Alan said Beatles took 'Standing to #14 in 1963. Fab 4 didn't reach the Hot 100 until 2/64. He was a year off. Big whoop.

It's a 'big whoop' because you learn in Music 101 the Beatles invaded US shores in 1964. Neither 'Standing nor any other Beatles track charted before then sans one tune that Bubbled in 1963 then climbed into the Hot 100 when rereleased one year later.

Apparently I didn't take Music 101. Where do I sign up? They're not going to stop making mistakes, LVK. Get over it and move on to something else!

If anything, from now on, if we have to post whatever errors they make, it should only be if they do something major. We all know that they will occasionally get the years slightly wrong or say that a particular song went to #1 when it went there on another chart or call someone a one-hit wonder when they aren't and whatnot. Their definition of a hit always changes. Nina's always going to screw up the content every week, and obviously nothing's being done, so we may as well live with it.

I can live with that and trying to see the good in the shows. At least the year featured is about 10 weeks from its last play. I also appreciate that the entire song is played, and sometimes we get "supersized" versions like "Do I Do" and "Purple Rain."
Just for Laura we will be nice guys! Laura, I think you are the only female on this thread!

And unlike some in-house countdowns, they don't skip over certain years for long periods of time. Then there's the occasionally foray into charts that will never be featured on AT40: The 80's because of guest hosts and the Shadoe era.

Yes Laura, we sometimes dog the VJ Countdown, but it is so great that you highlight the positivity of the show. You are totally on the mark about no omissions from the Countdown, as there are many gaps when a show was guest hosted.

Alan couldn't take the Pressure as he said Allentown was the first release from Nylon Curtain. Then in their ever changing definition of a hit he said countdown Corvette was PR Nelson's first real biggie. I guess gold & near top tenner status for I Wanna Be Your Lover doesn't count.

Nina included LRB in the '80s Aussie invasion' Little River Band, first reached US soil w/ 1976s It's A Long Way There. Then she included BeeGees as invaders from down under, OMG, they are from England! They were considered part of the 60s British invasion, 2nd wave after Beatles started it in 1964! They only grew up in Australia but had returned to England by that time...OMG!

Mark said Joe Jackson's countdown album had three charters. Only Breaking Us In Two and Steppin' Out reached the Hot 100.

Alan peaked Strut at #11, really #3 for Stray Cats. Then he said countdown Little Too Late was the 3rd single from Benatar's album; really the 2nd as 'Stranger didn't break until later in the Spring.
Then in her weekly chart screw up, Nina said the same Benatar was at #40, really #20

If you look on the Wikipedia page for "Get Nervous", it lists a song called "The Victim", which was a mild hit on the rock chart, as the first single. That's why he said it was the 3rd. Also, since we're still doing this, Nina said Little Too Late was at #40 when it was at #20. OMG she read it wrong though all three of them do that all the time so it's expected at this point so why are we still listing every time they do!!!!!!

It's likely to be on the final exam: British Invasion, 1964, Beatles I Want To Hold Your Hand.

Mark said Golden Earring's Radar was turned on in 1973, charted on the Hot 100 first in 5/74; at least his mic sounds great!!

It's likely to be on the final exam: British Invasion, 1964, Beatles I Want To Hold Your Hand. It's a shame. You've been too busy dishing out all the sarcasm to recognize it when you see it. Of course I know about the Beatles' domination of the charts in 1964. Who has been posting the 60s Satellite Survey lists since Dave Hoeffel took over as host? That would be the guy who's willing to admit that he's a doofus.
