My brother Tom is getting married (for the second time) on June 22nd. He's 62 years old and wants me to find the best dance tunes of all time.
Tutti Frutti - Little Richard (His favorite Rock 'n Roll star)
I Saw her Standing There - Beatles (Can anyone link me to a really great Beatles Dance mix?)
Roll Over Beethoven - Electric Light Orchestra (Tom is obsessed with this)
Dance Me To The End Of Love - Leonard Cohen (Tom wants to slow dance with his bride, Vicki, to this one
Hokey Pokey - Ray Anthony (We had a record of this when we were kids)
I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston (Vicki's request - IMHO the most overplayed song in history.)
Ballroom Blitz - The Sweet (If the whole party doesn't dance to this...)
Sing Sing Sing - Benny Goodman Legacy Orchestra (Of all the 40s swing tunes: this is the best!)
Proud Mary - Ike and Tina turner (C'mon...this is manditory at any party!)
Come Dance With Me - Frank Sinatra (Tom Has A Sinatra Fetish...It's a good song.)
Macarena - Los Del Rio (A gimmy- best dance tune of the 90s)
Jump In The Line - Harry Belefonte (The Tune that Winona Ryder levatated to at the end of "Beetlejuice". A good lead-in to Limbo Rock or La Bamba.)
Good Times - Chic (If any 70s disco has to be played; it's this one!)
When A Man Loves A Woman - Percy Sledge (The immortal slow-dance!)
NOW>>>MY PICKS
Walk The Dinosaur - Was Not Was (Best Dance Groove of the 80s)
Start The Commotion - Wiseguys (Great car commercial turned into a great dance tune.)
Bang A Gong (Get It On) - Power Station (The 70s record by T-Rex was OK but Robert Palmer and company made this flashy, funky and sexy! One of my 80s favorites!)
Respect - Aretha Franklin ("All you women...get up now")
Touch Me - The Doors (My brother Tom's first wedding was on the day that Jim Morrison died so I'm a little reluctant.)
Cotten Eye Joe - Rednexx (I hate it...hate it... hate it..but I know it will be requested.)
Bandstand Boogie - Les Elgart mixed with Barry Manilow - (Just a mix I made that I'm kinda proud of.)
A Little Less Conversation - Elvis Presley (JXL remix) Saw this on "Everybody Loves Raymond" and loved it.
Iko Iko - Belle Stars (The hit from "Rain Man". Infectious!)
Louie Louie - Kingsmen (Can't live without it! Come to think of it, Start The Commotion is kind of an extention of it.)
