I didn't see Elton John mentioned anywhere on this thread. Going by chart positions, I doubt you'd find anyone who'd consider Island Girl (#1) or I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That (#2) to be among his biggest hits. And yet, most would mention Tiny Dancer (#41).

I thought "Can't Fight This Feeling" spent more weeks at #1 than "Keep On Loving You". If so, then "CFTF" was the highest charting, and maybe "KOLY" was the signature (or at least, that's what I'd consider their signature). For Toto, their highest charting hit was "Africa" and their biggest hit was "Rosanna", but for a signature, I was thinking instead of "Rosanna", I'd say it's "Hold The Line". Since I posted this in 2012, it seems like "Africa" has now become Toto's signature hit in addition to being the highest charting, while "Rosanna" remains their biggest.

How about Rick Astley's signature #1 song "Never Gonna Give You Up" which later became the Rick Roll'd thing for YouTube and whatnot in the late 2000's?
