I would say Seger's signature song would be Night Moves.

I can't resist mentioning Debbie Boone's song for all 3 categories would be You Light Up My Life. It doesn't qualify for this thread since it's her only song.

It's also a song that was released on Dukedeb's birthday, a song that would go on to become the longest running #1 song since the song that was #1 the day she was born, a song that was performed by the only artist to be more successful at that time than her father, an artist who died the day You Light Up My Life was released.

That's neat and all very true. That was my 17th birthday. Let's see if someone that doesn't have a reason to know all of that like I do knows the artist and song you alluded to.......

The coincidences involving your birthday date are a constant amazement to me. I also recently learned that Bing Crosby's last concert appearance in the USA was that night. As you might remember he is already involved in this list. And the sound system mysteriously went out during that concert, so he continued to sing without amplification. Unusual - and just another WTF. Also when you have a chance look up the birthdates of - the woman who wrote the novel that inspired the all-time #1 motion picture adjusted for inflation and the director of the #2 motion picture on that list (and possibly soon to be the #3 motion picture on that list as well)

LOL BTW she is very hot looking these days.

I think you're talking about the fact that "You Light Up My Life" was released dukedeb's birthday on August 16,1977, which was also the day Elvis died. And his "It's Now Or Never" was #1 the day she was born.

This one may be open for debate: Hall & Oates Highest Charting: Maneater Biggest hit: I Can't Go For That Signature hit: She's Gone Highest charting, there's alot that hit #1. Was that the most weeks at #1 for them? Signature, I'd say that's tough. Many are very highly remembered. I Can't Go For That, She's Gone, You Make My Dreams and Maneater.

There's two acts that I think fit the spirit of this thread even if they don't exactly match the guidelines. One is Billy Idol. You look at his top 40 hits:
#1 Mony Mony #2 Cradle of Love #4 Eyes Without a Face #6 To Be A Lover #20 Sweet Sixteen #23 Hot In The City #29 Flesh For Fantasy #36 White Wedding #37 Don't Need a Gun
Although Mony Mony is clearly identified with him, I think a lot more fans think of Hot in the City or White Wedding (or Dancing With Myself) when they think Billy Idol than Eyes Without a Face or Sweet Sixteen.
The other is Meat Loaf:
#1 I'd Do Anything For Love #11 Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad #13 Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through #13 I'd Lie For You and That's The Truth #38 Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are #39 Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Again, I'd guess "Paradise" is more associated with Meat Loaf than any of the others except maybe "I'd Do Anything For Love."
MC Hammer probably fits here too, since "U Can't Touch This" only hit #8, lower than his highest charting #2 hit "Pray".

This one may be open for debate: Hall & Oates Highest Charting: Maneater Biggest hit: I Can't Go For That Signature hit: She's Gone According to Fred Bronson's book from 1991, "Maneater" ranked like 105 while "I Can't Go For That" 163 for all time...so I would say "Maneater" is at the top of at least the first two categories. To answer bestmusicexpert's question "Maneater" was four weeks "ICGFT" was one week at the top.
