I decided to bring back the 60's version as of May. BUT, I made a 70's edition of the show for: 1- A private demo for possibilities for me and radio 2- Someone asked me to do this chart a while back (Edisonlite I believe) 3- Try out new themes for when I do a more 70's themed special. Here is the FULL show. Figured for a 4 hour show (3:20 minus commercial time) Zipped and segmented. www.adrive.com/public/SUuDQ3.htmlI have not done a cue sheet yet, but if I do, I will post it here. BUT, here is the chart for that week: www.umdmusic.com/default.asp?Lang=English&Chart=D&ChDay=04&ChMonth=04&ChYear=1970&ChBand=&ChSong=There are extras picked from #41-#100, a recap of the top 5 albums that week, a B-Side spotlight and the #1 flashback (10 years prior). I'd love feedback on EVERYTHING, including theme music, bumper music, etc... talk units, talkovers, etc. When I do the 60's show, I'll be picking weeks from 1963-1969. (Occasional specials of the top 10's from 60, 61 & 62 for that week in history) I don't plan on including 70's years but maybe my arm can be twisted. (I will say, the reason for the 70's show is to rotate between 60's and 70's if this radio station picked it up, and I wanted to have a demo to show them what it would sound like.) I am also planning more special editions of the show, mixed music themes and specific artist shows. I have ALOT of cool ideas! ENJOY! PS: Link only good until 3-30-12! DOWNLOAD SOON!

I'll be the first! And I will keep it all positive, because this show was AWESOME!
First, I like the week you picked out, a 1970 show before the time of AT40 itself; it makes us wonder what was going on musically before the big show premiered!
Second, songs #40 and #39. These were two songs I actually knew and both were at their peaks. Good songs, too! It was great to hear them!
Third, I think you had both parts 1&2 combined in your songs at #38 and #33. Cool!
Fourth, both A- and B-sides for the singles at #26, #17, and #13.
Fifth, great choice for the "B-side Spotlight!"
Sixth, great extras. Loved hearing "Everybody's Out Of Town" by B.J. Thomas. Obviously this is an oldie no station plays nowadays but should! (Trombone player writing here!)
Seventh, love the number jingles! (Oh yes, everyone; they're back!) Hopefully we'll get more in the future!
Can't wait for next week's 1978 countdown! And really look forward to the return of counting them down in the 1960's!
Thank you, Jeff!

Wow, it's tough to add anything to that. I have only heard the first 2 hours to this point. But the show flows very nicely. Your choice of theme music and jingles is good. Only one mistake when you said the Beatles climbed 27 notches, (27 to 1 is only 26 notches). Pete B. is saying wow, dukebeb only caught one mistake on a show. Let me mark that down....lol Anyway, your voice seemed a little different than I was accustomed to from the MERCs of last year. Kind of in the laid back Casey mid 70s mode. That's an observation and not a compliment or criticism since I don't really have a feel for what works. (All modes of delivery worked for Casey of course!) Will catch the last 2 hours at some point and finish this up then.
And that point has been reached. Did a fine job. Production was really good throughout. Nice selection of below the top 40 songs. What a strange chart below #40. Almost every song from 41 to 57 peaked in that section of the chart and most of them were by name artists. Since many of us don't know such songs....I did not know either the Grass Roots song nor even the Ike & Tina cover of "Come Together"....it is one of the better features of the show. Also interesting that "The Boxer" was a stand alone single for almost a year before the Bridge album was released. And that Abbey Road was recorded later than Let it Be making "Come Together/Something" the Beatles last #1 in terms of when it was recorded.
Now I need to listen to some of your countdowns from last year and make a comparison. Your delivery seemed to be more deliberate/subdued than I remember. But the flow of the show was excellent. I suppose if stations balk at 4 hours, you can cut it down to the top 30 and do a 3 hour show. But keeping the various extras in the show is a must. BTW, people don't get your hopes up for a 1978 show. I think that was said as if he were actually doing this show for real. He will be doing a countdown from the 60s as his next show in a few weeks.
Great idea and I have my figures crossed that this will pan out for you!

Thank you RNH, I decided to pick either a week where Casey did a special or a pre-AT40 show. Since someone asked me to do this week in history, I figured why not.
- I had the part 1 & 2 versions of those songs, so I figured why not.
- I had the time overall, so I figured, why not. I even played the ACTUAL single version of No Sugar Tonight, not the full album version.
- I love that B-Side, amazing song! The record pops made it even better huh?
- I love picking the extras, A few known tunes, a few not so known tunes...
- The number jingles will happen occasionally on every show I do. epending on the situation, If there's no intro to talk over and it fits better, that'll happen. I know I used the #'s a few times on my first 60's show which will be out in May.
Thanks again RNH!

Jeff,
I'm glad you put this one together. Now I can dump the crappy version done on SXM by Magic Matt Alan. You're a real professional--he's not.

I would like a few people to help me out here. I am putting together a package for this show for a local station. I need some "listener feedback" to use in the package. Can a few people who have listened, provide me with some feedback, your name and location so I may use it? Thank you, Jeff Michaels PS: You can send it privately so not to clog up the boards

Caseyfan4ever,
I need to send the copy and your comments to SXM for sure!
Of course, they may axe AT40 and have me do it altogether, which considering Premiere plays the show, without asenine edits, that may not be so bad.

I wanna just say, I uploaded the show 1 week ago EXACTLY at this time, In one week I have had:
136 DOWNLOADS!
I am impressed with the numbers and I hope that it leads to being picked up for real!
If a show, with little to no promotion, can get 136 downloads in a week, Thats saying something! (BTW, an all time high for any show I've ever done, including specials)

Fantastic news. Esp for you. You and your reputation has a lot to do with it but it may also show how much interest there is in early 1970 shows. Maybe SiriusXM wasn't blowing smoke last year when they said they did that same countdown because there were many requests for it.
