Good evening, I wonder what casey has been up to since his retirement? Anyone know if he's doing anything these days? or just enjoying his retirement.

Other than a few voiceover spots for Scooby Doo, a Sprint commercial in March 2010, and a personal apperannce at a Hanna Barbera event in August 2009, Casey has been out of the spotlight.

Hopefully, he's okay. Would like a recent 2011 or 2012 update.

I also learned, when AT20 ended its run, that Casey was still going to do announcing on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon for a while longer. Seeing that the telethon is downsized to 6 hours now since 2011, it's possible his announcing days may be over, as eventually the telethon may end up being cancelled after so many decades.

latest research from me: his daughter is on Facebook and Twitter (cause Liberty Kasem is a pretty google-safe name). Listened to one of her songs. Felt a desire to say something to her father before... people keep dying it seems, and he's 80. Was just reading his comments about Shadoe not "leading" people into a song... Don't know what I'd say. I have not heard of health issues but his more present day intros to the classic AT40s are starting to sound a lot like my father did when he was old (and he was only 72)

What has Shadoe got to do with this? Who's present day intros? I am lost.

My sister is reading the Rob Durkee book; perhaps that will provide you enough context to interpret her comments.

The thread is about "what Casey's doing". She provided more data on that, as well as some thoughts of her own about what he's doing and how he is.
It didn't seem to *me* like she was writing in Swahili, Paul...

Your answer didn't explain it either. So, ok.

I read something that Casey said about something that Shadoe did that he did not like and that he would prefer to lead the fans into a new song. I felt somewhat cared for when I read that and it made me want to return the favor. Before it was too late. Those were my feelings. I did not have a question - or at least not a question that anyone but me could answer (what would I say). I write in stream of consciousness, but as my brother said, it's not Swahili. You may miss a few of the links along the way, but in the end, it wasn't all that unclear.

If you have a specific question, let me know. As this forum does not send email notifications, I might find it eventually. ;-)

Sorry, there *was* a question we missed. *Casey's* present day intros. I hear him sometimes telling us we are listening to Classic AT 40 on name of station. It's obvious to me (and brother) that Casey did not record these intros in the 90s or 80s or 70s. And he does sound older. It's like there are sounds missing when he pronounces things. I seem to remember my father talking like that when he was old (and he died at 72).
I'm sorry but I really don't understand what you are saying or asking. What has Shadoe got to do with this? Who's present day intros? I am lost.[/quote]
