I'd like to hear the Disappearing Acts specials, as well as the 1950s special, the first Book of Records, and the first ever AT40 special (Top 40 Recording Acts of the Rock Era, from spring 1971.)
I enjoyed the two 1970s Christmas specials, the 1972 album countdown (which was essentially a pilot that wasn't picked up) and the 1981 Beatles special. I can take or leave most other AT40 specials, even the year end ones (the 70s ones especially had some dubious rankings and omissions.)

Least favorite I heard rebroadcasted: 2 AMERICAN TOP 40 - 1973 year-end countdown Shows I'm glad I missed: 1 TOP 40 DISAPPEARINGS ACTS - 7/7/73 About the disappearing acts show, yes! 2 1/2 hours of my life wasted last year. Now about the top 40 of 73, why did you hate it? I heard it then first time a couple of years ago when it aired from Premiere and thought it was ok but didn't know much about the music of 73. But last year I chronologically listened to the year week by week and really liked what I heard. I was excited to listen to the year end show again and when I did it just fell flat to me. Don't really know why. Is this what happened with you? I mean I'm sure you didn't listen to the entire year or anything but did it just seem flat for whatever reason to you too?

I dislike it because its only 40 and missing alot.
1975 pisses me off because Who Loves You by The Four Seasons isn't there. It peaked by November 15th at #3. It should be somewhere in there.

Billboard used 11/1/1975 as their cut-off date which was two weeks before "Who Loves You" peaked. I'm sure if AT40 did their own calculations, it would've been included.

I don't think you can sum up a year with a regular Top 40 Countdown. It needed to be a Top 50, 80 or 100 Countdown to stand out from the rest of the year. I liked most of the songs compared to other years, there just was not enough songs.

I actually enjoyed the 1973 Disappearing Acts show; thanks for sending it to me. A lot of interesting forgotten 50s and 60s oldies and (as of then) info. The 1975 DA countdown was pretty redundant, though; it would have been more interesting if they'd come up with 40 new "disappearing acts".

I don't think I was able to sit through any of Rick Dees' Christmas specials. Most of the music was pretty obscure.
