I dont know if this subject has been mentioned before, if so, I apologize.
I am thinking about songs from Eurovision Song Contest that have charted AT40.
I have 2 of them :
- Eres tĂș by Mocedades, entering for Spain in 1973. I think it peaked number 9 in 1974.
- Waterloo by ABBA, entering for Sweden in 1974. I think it peaked number 6 in 1974.
- Dont know if Telegram by Silver Convention , entering for Germany in 1977, charted on AT40.

Another one:
- Save your kisses for me by Brotherhood of Man in 1976. The song peaked 27 in that year and it was an entry for the UK.

It looks like there are no more of those songs.
So maybe it is the time for talking about acts who has been on AT40 and also entered the Eurovision Song Contest and viceversa.
I remember:
- Olivia Newton-Jhon , entering for The UK.
- Katrina and the Waves, entering for The UK.
- Cliff Richards, entering for The UK.
- Julio Iglesias, entering for Spain.
- Silver Convention, entering for Germany.
- Celine Dione, entering for Switzerland.

^^ "Telegram" bubbled under at #103 in 1977.
This one is outside the scope of "Classic AT40" (as it charted during the run of Casey's Top 40), but Gina G's Top Ten hit "Ooh Ahh... Just A Little Bit" was the UK's Eurovision entry in 1996.

Did "Ding A Dong" by Teach-In reach AT40? Won Eurovision in 1975, and I think made it as far to the high 20's on the US AC charts, but not sure if it made AT40.

"Ding A Dong" did hit #22 AC, but missed the pop chart completely.

Robert Pilatus, from the infamous Milli Vanilli, went to Eurovision too, as part of the group Wind (Germany 1987).

Oh and The New Seekers (UK 1972) had a few US top 40 hits that decade.

Cascada is representing Germany at this year's Eurovision - they've had a few hits in the Seacrest era, most notably "Everytime We Touch" and "Evacuate The Dancefloor".

That was the best song the Brits could come up with for '76? Well, I guess it would've raised a few eyebrows if they submitted the Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK!" ;D

Well if we are going to talk about songs from non AT40 era, there is one Eurovision entry that didn't win the contest but it was a huge hit in USA, in fact it was the #1 single of the year (Billboard).

Engelbert Humperdinck entered for The UK last year. It was a terrible flop. According to wikipedia, his single After the loving was a top 10 in 1976 .

Volare ,By Dean martin A Dean Martin cover made the charts too, but it was the original singer, Domenico Modugno, who made it to #1.
