I guessed 2 out of 4 for the HALLOWEEN OPTIONAL EXTRAS right. If the Halloween Horror Movie Montage contains any music from 1984, the biggest true horror film that year was "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter." If you consider "Gremlins" horror, that was a #1 film as well. But the best known horror movie that year is the original "Nightmare On Elm Street." Yeah, this was cool! Just listening to it right now on WLIX

I'm listening to the 1987 show on KZOY and before "Wipeout" Casey introduces the "well rounded rappers from New York" (the Fat Boys of course) and asks "what makes a fat boy fat?" (I wonder) and then went through a laundry list of foods the Fat Boys liked. Cracked me the hell up. Oh the foods they liked were Lasagna, potato chips, chocolate chip cookies a typical breakfast for them is ham and eggs with toast and they drink lots of soda according to Casey (Coke,Orange soda...). That was very specific. Now I'm hungry. I'm thinking the Fat Boys must be the Diabetes Boys or the Heart Disease Boys today. One thing I remember about The Fat Boys from 1987 was the movie they starred in with the late Robert Bellamy called "Disorderlies" There was one scene were one of them had to eat sprouts to impress an attractive house maid while the other two were eating stacks of Domino's Pizzas. Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick made a cameo appearance in that movie. There was a good Bon Jovi song on that Disorderlies soundtrack that unfortunately never made it on their album. I remember it getting airplay. "Edge of a Broken Heart"

Do you count the song "Point Of No Return" that hit #1 dance in 1985, and #5 pop in 1987? They are each sung by Expose, but the singers on each song are different. The instrumental backing is similar, possibly just remixed for the later version. How about FGTH's "Relax" or DM's "People Are People?" Each cracked the Hot 100 in 1984, each hit the top 40 many months later in 1985, after they had fallen off of the Hot 100. I *think* the versions that hit the top 40 were remixed versions. Now that reminds me of Prince's 1999, which hit the Hot 100, fell off, and then came back after LRC. Baby Come To Me by PA&JI also hit the Hot 100 twice. Hey, didn't PA's Every Home Should Have One hit the Hot 100 twice? How about ME's I Melt With You? Was that second version a remix, or the same as the 1982/1983 version? • • • • • Unrelated, listening to the 1984 show on WWIS, and there is strong bleed over from their sister country station. It's making me laugh. Was Expose around in 1985? There was a Nu Shooz song called "Point of No Return". edit - yeah, you're right. I wasn't aware of that version of Expose's song

Actually yes; an early version of Expose recorded a version of "Point of No Return" that hit the Billboard dance/disco chart in 1985-86. The group was then completely reconstituted before recording a full album, including a redo of PONR that became a pop hit in 1987.

Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 11/7/87 2nd Guess - 11/9/85 Matt... It looks like your second guess is correct, according to KOLA: www.kolafm.com/casey-kasem/The 11/9/85 show last aired in 2013. None of the November shows aired last year had a "B" option. Is it safe to assume this is the only option for next weekend? Probably but not definitely. This would be eight weeks after the last 1985 AT40 so it would make sense for it to be the A or a standalone, though it's possible that it could be paired with another year, likely 1980 which has a longer drought (in which case I think KOLA would opt for 1985.) But it may be that next week Premiere starts (too early IMO) offering holiday shows as B's for both decades.

I just read up on that on wikipedia and listened to the original.

Makes me wonder if the voiceover talent for the non-24 ad, really IS completely blind.

Confirmed Premiere optional extras according to jdelachjr2002 (all had a Halloween theme): Hour #1: "Thriller" - Michael Jackson Hour #2: "Ghostbusters" - Ray Parker Jr. Hour #3: "Somebody's Watching Me" - Rockwell Hour #4: Halloween Horror Movie Montage I'm looking forward to hearing the fourth extra. Here's what I heard in the medley, but any corrections are welcome: Started off with background music from Friday the 13th Part 2 (when Jason is walking up the stairs) A Nightmare On Elm Street The Amityville Horror The Shining Friday the 13th Part 2 (not the theme but probably taken from the shack scene) Jaws Psycho Halloween The Exorcist Sounds effects from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the "photograph" sfx, also heard in the trailer of the remake)

So the holiday stuff is not starting next weekend. Which is fine with me; IMO it shouldn't at least until Thanksgiving, or maybe the weekend before it.
I'd have thought that 1985 would have been better paired with 1980 or 81 for more contrast, but I do love me some 1983. So I'll have to somehow find both shows.

Same for something from "Children of the Corn" or "Gremlins". ("A Nightmare on Elm Street" was from that year.) Interesting how they were able to come up with three songs from that year that did manage to fit a Halloween theme (Rockwell's spooky-sounding talk/singing in "Somebody's Watching Me" qualifies.)
