Hard to believe that only 84 users have 500+ posts. I would have thought there were many more.

November 29, 1986 scheduled for Nov.30-Dec. 1 as per KOLA. I will confirm that. Waiting for the cue sheets from Premiere to identify the extras, which are likely to turn up Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I would expect the Billy Joel and Dead Or Alive ones to remain, based on Classic Hits airplay now.

As I look at the trajectory of the Optional Extras for the latter part of 1986 as they've been played over the last 10-12 years, there've been only a few replacements (other than obvious 'tribute' OEs). For example, the 11/29/1986 show has only been played in 2012 and 2022, and both airings had the same set of OEs. The 11/15 show, played in 2013, 2018 and 2021 also had unchanged OEs. The 11/8/1986 show, on the other hand, swapped out 2 of their original OEs for 2 replacements when it was last played in 2020.

I think we can presume that 11/29/86 won't have an OE replaced for an acknowledgement of Quincy Jones' passing. Just got the cue sheets for this weekend's show (11/27/82) and they replaced the Elvis Medley from the 2014 airing with "One Hundred Ways" replacing it. So I was right in my November 6 guess that it would be this weekend, but wrong about which song they would use ( jmack19 got it right, but predicted the wrong hour). They also replaced the Steve Winwood OE ... but not with the Kenny Loggins song jmack19 predicted.

You're both wrong.

Since it was just about to debut on the top 40 the next week, I'd say "Baby Come To Me" is the mystery OE substitute. Its only other use as an OE has been in the 10/23/1982 show (In 2013 and 2016. It was replaced as an OE for the 2020 airing by Tears For Fears' "Mad World"). A double-Q tribute.

jmack19 got the Quincy Jones OE correct. Also the Tom Petty song, which replaces the Winwood song. Reverse the order and don't replace the first OE (which, IMHO, deserves replacing) and you have them all.
