I bet the Olivia Newton-John/ELO "Xanadu" extra will stay even with the recent ONJ death. Isn't that a really 'well, duh!' statement? What could be "Well, duh!" alsi if Premiere throws in for this weekend a bonus show to honor Olivia Newton-John - the 1/23/1982 AT40 show where Olivia spent her 10th. week at #1 with "Physical" plus for the OPTIONAL EXTRAS selected 1980's ONJ songs - This would be like Premiere did for Prince after he passed away in Spring 2016 when 8/4/1984 was offered as a bonus tribute show and for the 40th. anniversary of John Lennon's passing when 12/13/1980 was offered as a bonus tribute show in Decmeber 2020.

Something like that would probably be more likely for next weekend, offered alongside 1984, if they did do that - as opposed to this weekend where there's already an A/B pairing (1980/1986), with Olivia at #1 in the 1980 show for good measure. Pushing it to next weekend would give them a bit more time and wouldn't make for an extra-crowded offering. Alternatively: I wonder if Premiere would have Larry Morgan record a new intro for "Summer Nights" in which he acknowledges Olivia's passing. That could be done for "Xanadu" here.

Another possibility is a rebroadcast of a 1983 show in the near future (August 20, 1983 is the earliest they can air at this point), and a medley of Olivia Newton-John's biggest hits could be played as an optional extra as a tribute, just like they did after the death of George Michael when Premiere Networks replayed the January 14, 1984 show in 2017.

But in the last month we've heard or will hear 1983 by itself as well as 1980 and 1981 A's with other years as B's; 8/27 (played by itself in 2019) is possible but more likely 1983 waits until at least September.

Ironically 8/20/1983 already had an Optional Extra tribute with ZZ Top's "Gimme All Your Lovin'" last year to Dusty Hill who passed away on July 28, 2021!

"You Can Call Me Al" by Paul Simon is one of the optional extras from this weekend's B show from 8/9/86-It just missed the top forty the first time around peaking at # 44-A year later, the song recharted & did slightly better peaking at #23-It turned out to be Paul's final top forty hit as both a solo artist & his classic duets with Art Garfunkel-Loved the video which featured Chevy Chase.

"Roly-poly little bat-faced girl" is such a classic descriptive lyric. "Angels in the architecture" is excellent as well.

"Twist & Shout" by The Beatles made the top forty for a second time in the late summer/early fall of 1986-That was due to its inclusion in the hit movies "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" & "Back To School"-This time around,"Twist & Shout" peaked at # 23.

Any thoughts on who else can be expected to air 8/9/86?

"A Little More Love" was played on this week's 1980 Classic AT40 as an AT40 extra while Casey talked about Olivia Newton-John's start in music. (Being in a talent show/flying to London, etc.)
Nice - even though I know this was coincidental with her passing. (Played before #22)

In April of 1964,the initial release of "Twist & Shout" by The Beatles peaked at # 2-It was kept from the top spot by another Beatles classic "Can't Buy Me Love".
