Are there any other stations playing the 1987 show (besides KZOY)? I tuned into that near the end of Hour 1 and I'm going to try to catch that first hour, hopefully sometime today.

This 1980 show is a doozy. The programmers that run the three hour version to eliminate some unfamiliar titles/stiffs are in for a shock. Their first half hour features Bernadette Peters, the Sedakas and the James Last band. Last's "The Seduction" remains one of my favorite top 40 instrumentals. From the same film as the #1 song--"American Gigolo". It's use in the film is excellent.

Is it just me or is WTOJ's stream awful sounding today? It's like I'm listening to it on an old transistor radio with bad reception and half dead batteries.
(I'm tuning in for the first time after listening to the 1987 show on KZOY.)

On the '80 show, Casey mentions that Pure Prairie League had charted in '75 with "Amie". But this Vince Gill-led iteration of the group was almost a totally different band than the earlier version. I still think that Sedaka duet is icky, being sung by a father and daughter. I listened to the lyrics and just kind of cringed.

Not really sure what your reply has to do with my post about Pure Prairie League, but the 'gold standard' for 'icky'-sounding father-daughter duets was probably set back in '67 with Ol' Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra) and daughter Nancy doing "Something Stupid". Personally, the one I always found particularly 'icky' was a #1 country hit (#69 pop) from 1977: Father-daughter duo The Kendalls' un-subtly titled "Heaven's Just a Sin Away".

We can't call most man-woman duets "icky".

We can't call most man-woman duets "icky". No one said or even insinuated that we could. Father-daughter duets are another story. Intended or not, the 'ickiness' is there at times. For some reason, brother-sister duos seem to have evaded that. Carpenters, Nino Tempo/April Stevens, etc.

Their first half hour features Bernadette Peters, the Sedakas and the James Last band. When I listened earlier today it seemed like the version of "Cupid" played started with the 'I've Loved You For A Long Time' verse and totally left out the part written by Sam Cooke. Did anyone else get this version? Had to be a Premiere edit?

That's my thought on 5/24/80 -- hours 3 and 4 are really good, but the first two hours have some long slow stretches. The three you named are a few of the worst offenders.

Yeah, I thought that the "I've Loved You For A Long Time" bridge started off a little early.
