How does anybody live in Watertown? It's mid 40s right now. Holy bleep! The calendar reads May 8th, not Jan 8th. It is 43 right now and raining in suburban Chicago, so our weekly large flea market in Rosemont, IL was cancelled in advance. Areas to the west near DeKalb were being warned of wet snow possible.

Other stations that could possibly air 7/17/82 this weekend: Saturday KPRW - 12 noon - If station airs '78 at 9 am, '82 is next. Sunday WSYN - 12 noon - Advertised 82 last week, then switch to 87. Usually airs specials on Sunday. WPAC - 4 pm - has 4 hours set aside to air 80s shows. Does not air A shows, probably due to nearby WSNN airing A show twice. KLTF - 4 pm - or after baseball. Aired Prince 1984 show. WJER - 9 pm - or after NBA game. Aired John Lennon 1980 show last December. at40fg.proboards.com/thread/5003/80s-current-station-list-2021?page=1Well, we can count out WSYN, as they're playing the 1988 show.

'Only' a predicted high of 91 today. Three days ago we hit 99, almost 'breaking the ice' on the Santa Cruz (dry) River for the first time this year. Typical mid-May Southern AZ weather.

Does the Sunday broadcast of AT40 on KZOY generally start off past the top of the hour?
ETA: Mark Elliott show finally starting right now - twelve minutes late!

Does KZOY always start the show late now?
It used to start around 5 after, but apparently they now don't start it until 10 after thanks to this "Good News of the Day" thing or whatever it's called.

OK now, Mark Elliott's 1982 show is starting on KZOY. He starts by saying that "If you were listening to American Top 40 in the late 70s you may have heard me filling in for Casey a couple of times in." Actually five times.
Larry said in an optional extra intro in the 1978 show that Mark was very nervous about substituting for Casey, but his performance was good enough that he was not only repeatedly brought back but became the only person to fill in for Casey in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s (of course that includes Casey's Top 40, on which I think he was the only guest host from 1989-93.)

I usually listen to KZOY when I want to hear the "B" show, which normally plays on Saturday. It often starts 5 to 8 minutes late on Saturday. It usually catches up some by the end of the show, but don't cut off recording until at least 5 minutes after the scheduled show's end. I seldom listen to the "A" show on Sunday, I normally listen to WWIS on Friday afternoon for the "A".

At #24 on the 7/17/82-show: Asia with "Heat Of The Moment"
On the occasion of their founding in 1981, Asia is now releasing loads of new releases for its 40th birthday. The 5-CD box "The Reunion Albums: 2007-2012" will be released on 6/11. The 5-CD deluxe folding box set contains the 2-CD live recording "Fantasia, Live In Tokyo" together with the three Reunion studio albums "Phoenix", "Omega" and "XXX". For the reunification, the four founding members came together again in 2006: John Wetton (lead vocals / bass), Steve Howe (guitars), Carl Palmer (drums) and Geoff Downes (keyboards).
The 25th anniversary was celebrated with a world tour. That´s exactly where the reunion albums started. In 2007 a live album "Fantasia, Live In Tokyo" was released and shortly afterwards it went into the studio and three albums followed in the following years: "Phoenix" (2008), "Omega" (2010) and "XXX" (2012) . The saddest event in the band history of Asia happened almost 5 years later. Singer and bassist John Wetton died of cancer in 2017 just before Asia started an arena tour with "Journey". The tour that followed became a memorial for the dead bandmate and friend.
This year, however, will be celebrated, among other things with the release of a box set "Asia In Asia".

Nice to not hear any of the Premiere ads during the show on KZOY. My sentiments exactly! Though hearing their John and Heidi pimping My Pillow at least once an hour is not an improvement IMO. But that’s not their fault, but rather that of Mike Lindell and his politics. Meanwhile, Mark led into #1 (Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me?”) with a story about how it was inspired by “A Star Is Born”, which I don’t recall Casey ever telling. Mark noted that different versions of it had starred Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand; recently it was remade with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and their recording of “Shallow” from it was a hit.

The 1954 Garland film was the first remake. The original came out in 1937 and starred Janey Gaynor and Frederic March. Not too long ago Turner Classic Mobies (TCM) ran the '37, '54, and '76 (Streisand/Kristofferson) versions consecutively.
