I have a flash drive that I've loaded a bunch of shows on for the car. Decided to load all the 1981-1984 shows in calendar date order, beginning with the 1/7/1984 show, then 1/8/1983, then 1/9/1982, etc. (Yes, the first three are all guest-hosted.) Once those are completed, then I'll do the same with 1985-1989. I've got that same approach with 1970-1977 at home on the iPod.

In other news, I'm a bit disappointed with 1988 for next week. So far this year, up until now anyway, they've managed to avoid shows whose previous "A" airing was fewer than five years ago. And they had a perfect opportunity to continue the streak. If they want to get 1988 in at some point, which was last played in February, they'd have to wait until May. March 26: last played in 2019 April 2: last played in 2020 April 16: guest hosted April 23: last played in 2019 April 30: last played in 2018 May 7: 2015

Assume 'Fantasy Top 20' is something you've made up? Yes. I started posting it in the summer of '19. Now it's been downsized to a top 10.

If it weren't for a dispute between Greg Kihn and Bob Seger, we could have had a Thirsty 13 !!! Maybe this was the show that put Bill Wardlow "on notice" . There were 19 out of the 40 survey songs that made no movement from the previous week. Aside from the Bizarro chart action, 4-2-83 is a great show to celebrate National Countdown Day 4-3-21 APRIL 2, 1983, ACROSS THE CHARTS As many of you know, "Twilight Zone" never made the Radio & Records top 30 chart. Also, "Stray Cat Strut" and "We've Got Tonight" had fallen out by this point. # | Billboard | Cash Box | Radio & Records | Fantasy Top 20 | 1 | BILLIE JEAN [1] | BILLIE JEAN [1] | SEPARATE WAYS [3] | SEPARATE WAYS [4] | 2 | DO YOU REALLY WANT TO... Guitarist and singer George Kooymans and bassist Rinus Gerritsen already founded a school band with Frans Krassenburg (singer, until 1967), Peter De Ronde (guitar, until 1967) and drummer Jaap Eggermont (until 1969), which is based on rock´n´roll from America were thrilled. The then 13 to 15 year old boys called themselves "The Tornados" tried to re-enact the hits of rock stars like Dion & The Belmonts, Gene Vincent etc. Just one year later, the young musicians from The Hague had to correct their names, because in England a band with the same name landed a #1 with “Telstar”. Somehow the guys got from the hundredth to the thousandth when choosing a name. How else can you explain that a film and the theme song from 1947 came up in conversation ? In any case, the band members agreed on the name of the film with Marlene Dietrich and John Wayne or the title song of the same name by Marlene Dietrich. In September 1962, "The Tornados" became "The Golden Earrings". In 1965 the young band, which were already very popular in the region, got a record deal with Polydor. Their debut single "Please Go" was Beat from the Netherlands, which didn´t have to hide from the hottest bands from Great Britain. Between Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks and The Who, the first single was found in the Top 10 of the Dutch charts. At the end of the 60s, not only had the line-up changed a bit, but also the name. From now on there was no longer "The" in front of the name and the "s" at the end of the name was deleted. The beat band became a rock band that performed live on an international level. Golden Earring will no longer perform live because 72-year-old George Kooymans suffers from the rare muscle and nerve disease ALS. He confirmed this to the Dutch "Algemeen Dagblad" in February 2021.

Hope KOLA releases the April 17-18, 2021 AT40: The 80's entry later - hope it is 4/19/1985. Guessing you mean either 4/20/85 or 4/19/86. We could hear both of these shows the last two weekends in April. I'm guessing we will for sure get 4/20/85 one of those weekends. And with that, a prediction for the weekend of April 17th: 1st Guess - 4/20/85 2nd Guess - 4/19/86

For the last weekend of April, I'm going to guess 1984. Both 4/21 and 4/28 are ripe for repeat, but it has been slightly longer for the former (2014) than the latter (2015), which has also been run three times while 4/21 has been played twice. Being that the last weekend of April is right in between the two, it could be either one. But it is definitely time to hear 1984 again.

It's actually been longer for 4/28/84 -- 4/21/84 was last played in 2018 (2014 before that). Either show would work date-wise with the weekend of April 24th (and after 4/20/85). It wouldn't be out of the question for the next '84 show to be 5/5/84 either, but I think you're right that 1984 will happen before the end of April. BTW, 4/28/84 is to me a week where 1984 began to go from good to epic (more accurately, the entire month of April and most of May 1984 were loaded with great debut songs). Debuts for 4/28/84 included "The Reflex", "Heart of Rock & Roll", "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and the all-time classic "White Horse". An airing of one of these two shows just might set things up for 6/23/84 to finally get played again?

Yeah - I'll err towards April 28, although April 21 is definitely not out of the question, especially since it was a "B" show then.

LOL, another mistake. Guess I'm getting a little senile in my old age But seriously, yeah, 4/28/1984 now makes all the more sense as an ideal show for the last week in April.
