Too bad Terence Trent D'Arby never considered re-releasing the not making the top 40 in late 1987 "If You Let Me Stay" after 3 other songs by Terrence - "Wishing Well", "Sign Your Name", and "Dance Little Sister" made the Top 40 reaches. I am so glad they did not! D'arby had such a grating voice in that song, almost equivalent to fingernails on a chalkboard. And Def Leppard could have given the first single from the 1987 Adenelize album "Women" one more chance after the 6 other singles made the Top 40 reaches. They probably would not have re-issued that song after "Rocket", since the two songs sound so much alike. They could have released "Women" in place of "Rocket", but I'm not sure how well it would have done on the charts - might not have even hit the Top 20 like "Rocket" did. Agree-Terence Trent D'Arby's career was pretty much dead in the water after that Rolling Stone article when he said he was going to be "bigger than The Beatles". As far as rock acts in the re-releasing department, I don't think it would have fared much better. Poison's "I Want Action", White Lion's "Tell Me" and Whitesnake's "In The Still Of The Night" would have been interesting re-releases, but airplay on those songs pretty much ran their course. The only rock act that I can remember who benefited from re-releases was The BlacK Crows.

Terrence Trent D'Arby did make Casey's Top 40/Rick Dees once more (both used the R&R CHR/Pop chart source) in 1993 with "Delicate", but "Delicate" failed to make Shadoe Stevens' AT40 chart (which used the Billboard Top 40/Mainstream chart source at the 1993 time).

Prediction for next show:
7/24/82
It pretty much has to be this one or 7/25/81. I'm going with the 1982 show though Premiere has lately been passing on many shows that haven't aired in a long time so it would be like them to feature 7/25/81 and pass on the long since played 8/15/81, especially now considering 1981 has the second longest drought after 1983. The dark horse candidate is 7/31/82, less likely given the difference in calendar days. Any one of these can be paired with 7/25/87.

I believe that, in that song, they used the same penny whistle that was heard in the refrains of "Wishing Well".

Yes, and the Black Crowes after "She Talks To Angels" made the top 40 re-released "Hard to Handle" in Summer 1991 and it made the top 40, although the Black Crowes never gave "Jealous Again" one more chart chance.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 7/31/82 2nd Guess - 7/23/83
Guessing it's going to be 1982 next week, but since burcjm threw out 7/24/83, I'll be different and say 7/31/82 (which hasn't been played as an 'A' since 2010). If it's not 1982 next week, 7/31/82 could happen the weekend of August 1st. It's rare that two shows get played that weren't originally at least three weeks apart, though it does happen every often (hence 7/23/83 being the second choice).

It's rare that two shows get played that weren't originally at least three months apart... Not clear what you mean by that.

Ugh, typo on my part--should say three weeks...means to say that Premiere doesn't often play two shows (A's, B's, or both) that were closer together than three weeks. In this case, since 7/9/83 was played, the next most likely '83 show would be 7/30/83 (and not 7/23/83, which is just two weeks after 7/9/83). Though there are a few cases of shows that were just two weeks apart. And the oddball case of 6/12/82 being played as a 'B' just before 6/19/82 was offered as an 'A' -- that happened in June 2017.

Figured it was going to be 1981 given the drought though we were all hoping it wouldn't be. That means 8/15/81 is a no-go
