Another Easter weekend with 1984. That's right - I remember at one time, we had a consecutive streak going with 1984 being featured on Easter weekend. I think it was 6 or 7 consecutive years that started around 2010. No complaints here.

I'm not that far from Black River Falls, and although it was in the 30s in the morning, it got up into the mid to upper 60s in the afternoon. Not unusual. Anything goes in Spring. Yep, sure does. Been that way as long as I remember. Look at Denver; at several times during the year, their temps could vary greatly from ours, whether we're sweltering or in a deep freeze.

I love the Commentary Casey on this week's 88 show despite the lackluster musical content. I like the Aerosmith, Louis Armstrong, and Rick Allen stories. Angels vs. Devils Top 40 hits along with Bam Bam following Pebbles were enjoyable also. As I've said before, 1988 didn't really get going for me in pop music tastes until late May on through towards the early Shadoe shows.

No complaints here. Actually, starting in 2012, there were five consecutive years. I thought it was more as well. Still, pretty impressive.

Just another typical spring in the Midwest. You get one day of nice mid 60's then three days later it's right around 32 and as was said it was freezing rain in Nebraska and Iowa with a winter weather advisory yesterday and today. One year I went to the Drake relays in Des Moines and it snowed on April 25th. Just need some warmer and dry weather to get the farmers into the fields. When I was in Vegas one July for a company meeting, it was 100 something with "dry heat". I felt like I was living in "heck". People find excuses to live anywhere...and that area is due for snow while it's just raining here in suburban Chicago!

That's one of my favorite years musically of all-time.

What exactly was Premiere's motive, for giving us OEs that were months away from debuting on AT40? Please say. Thanks! Isn't that the norm for '88 shows?

Welcome to my world (Tucson), although our average 12-13"/yr rainfall is greater than Vegas', and we usually stay a bit warmer in winter than they do. Was in Las Vegas over Xmas and it was very cold, with snow nearly reaching the city itself. Got some great snow pix at Red Rock Canyon just west of town. Anyway, I love our Southern AZ Sonoran Desert climate, and it is better than Phoenix's--not quite as hot and more rainfall in the July-Sept. 'monsoon' season. I love June with single-digit humidity and tripe-digit high temps. Would not want to live where it freezes for long periods.

Not sure why Premiere does them that way, unless that's their way of trying to fill out 1988 by playing songs during Shadoe's tenure that we won't hear counted down in this series. Some shows stick to the selected week's chart with songs outside the 40; others are songs that charted late in 1988/early 1989. Haven't figured out the pattern with that yet...

Can we just skip ahead to next weekend where we get a dose of Commentary Casey and one of my favorite ever countdowns from 1981! I'll be the first to admit that I tend to listen to the 70s shows, as opposed to the 80s. But for some reason today I decided to catch the '81 show on WPNC. And I must admit I'm enjoying listening to this countdown. There's a lot of gems in this particular countdown that you never hear on the radio anymore, especially from 40-21.

I like the 70s more too. When it gets to 1986 and 87 I find I like fewer songs

If I were in charge of Premiere, I'd allow the Shadoe shows for the rest of the decade to be broadcast, and just drop the Casey Kasem's tag from the broadcast. Just have it be 'American top 40'.

In the 4/4/81 show, right after "Don't Stand so Close" at #12, Casey just said “12 big ones to #1 and countin' down” [even though there are only 11 songs left in the countdown and only 10 songs before #1].
