Y'know, I think it's been awhile since I've cleaned out my garage. I just might pencil that in for next weekend!

HATE it, when WWIS ends well before 5PM central. By 4:54, they were already back to local programming. I like it when shows end early. Do not like it when they end late. Why does ending early bother you?

'Cause I got on the computer late.

'Cause I got on the computer late. So you're saying that WWIS started early as well? Did not catch the first 1:30 of the show today, so I do not know. Yes, starting early would annoy me, but not starting on time and ending early.

[...] Yes, starting early would annoy me, but not starting on time and ending early. Agree completely.

Two songs from "Miami Vice" in this week´s countdown, both from the "Miami Vice" soundtrack album. And then there were "Miami Vice II" with "Take Me Home" and "Crockett´s Theme" as well as "Miami Vice III" with "Dirty Laundry" and "Satellite". But at least one more song would have been added to one of those three samplers (IMO). A song from a member of the band Styx ... no, no, no ... I´m not talking about Dennis DeYoung, I´m talking about Tommy Shaw.
Here´s Tommy Shaw with the title track from his album "Girls With Guns":

WQMV went with last year's B show from 10/13/73. Strange, given the station aired the A show from 10/14/78 last year. Could the presence of 'YLUML' have been the reason? Hmmmm... WQMV went with last year's A show from 10/16/82. The station aired the B show from 10/25/86 last year. Update: WQMV aired 10/12/85 on Tuesday afternoon.

Lots of 1986 so far this year, considering it was aired as the year-end special in January. I'll guess they will still air one more '86 show (in December perhaps?), which would make seven weekly countdowns plus part 2 of the year-end top 100 the first week in January. Premiere used to go light on years that were schedule for the year-end top 100 both during the six months before the special and the six months or so after. That method doesn't seem to be in play anymore. Bummer that Premiere didn't choose to play 10/11/86 (last aired as an 'A' in 2010 and as a 'B' in 2016) followed by 10/19/85 (last aired at all in 2009).

I wonder if we'll get 10-24-81 and 11-12-83 this year. I'm sure that 82 is just around the corner, and 87 should get an A show status soon. I know that 10-31-81 and 10-31-87 were paired together back in 2016, so I doubt we'll get either one of those shows unless we could get 10-31-87 as an A, and 10-30-82 as a B next week in the strange way that this year is going.

[..] I repeat my prediction of 1/5/2019 ( at40fg.proboards.com/post/151718) at this point: The Top 100 of 1985, either as a stand-alone or as a "B" with 1980 or 1981.

I'm thinking that 10/30/82 has pretty good odds of airing the last weekend in October, but 10/31/87 is almost certainly a no-go since it's been played as the 'B' show in both 2017 and '18. 11/7/87 would seem to be a much better bet for one of those first two weekends in November -- it hasn't been played at all since 2010. If it's not 1982 or '83 the last weekend in October, it would be a surprise (though 10/27/84 isn't out of the question). And whichever of those doesn't go for October 26th, we can probably expect to hear in November. If it's 10/30/82, the hope is that 11/19/83 happens, and if it's 10/29/83, hopefully 11/13/82 happens. My own wishful thinking...

My own wishful thinking... I predict 10/30/82. According to a clue given a while ago there must be one more 1982 show before the "Christmas season" starts and it has to be paired with a 1984 show (would have to be 10/27/84). It's either this or 11/13/82 is paired with 11/3/84 on November 9 which is doubtful for 2 reasons: (a) November 9 could well be the date the first Christmas special airs, and (b) The differences in calendar dates is kind of extreme. But in the event 1982 waits until November, 10/29/83 must be the scheduled show.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 10/30/82 2nd Guess - 10/29/83
It feels like a toss-up between these two shows. 1982 holds a slightly longer drought, and this show hasn't been played at all since 2012 (10/29/83 aired as an 'A' show in 2014 and then as a 'B' show a year after that). 10/30/82 has one of the oddest chart dynamics of any countdown in the original Casey era: only ONE song in the entire countdown dropped within the top 40, and that was from #1 to #2, making the biggest dropper in the countdown a song that fell just one notch! Wardlow's finest hour as Billboard chart director?

Wardlow's finest hour as Billboard chart director? No way! B.S. Wardlow's finest hour, by far and away, was 8/19/78, the Frozen 14. He should have gotten the Nobel Prize in literature for that one.

Welcome to Page 2001. For now. Just think -- if this thread were a book that you could order on Amazon, you'd need a forklift to get it into the house!
