WWIS going with 8/16/80. Volume level is LOW. WWIS always goes with the "A" show, they are playing 1982 now and the volume level is proper!

Optional extras are the same as they were ten years and one year ago. August 16, 1980: Hour #1: "Another One Bites The Dust" - Queen (#67; highest debut) Hour #2: "He's So Shy" - The Pointer Sisters (#52) Hour #3: "Jesse" - Carly Simon (#47) Hour #4: "I'm Alright" - Kenny Loggins (#44) August 6, 1988 (all late 1988/early 1989 hits): Hour #1: "The Loco-Motion" - Kylie Minogue Hour #2: "Domino Dancing" - The Pet Shop Boys Hour #3: "I Don't Want Your Love" - Duran Duran Hour #4: "What I Am" - Edie Brickell & New Bohemians Good set of extras for the 1980 show. "I'm Alright" has been used as an extra two or three other times I'm thinking. As for 8/6/88, interesting that they decided to go with a full out 1989 song in "What I Am" -- that one didn't crack the top 40 until the week of 1/14/89. "I Don't Want Your Love" was still in the 40 for the first two weeks of 1989, but the top 40 runs of the other two were done before the end of '88 (in fact, both dropped out the week of 12/17/88). "What I Am" entered the Hot 100 on 11/26/88 at 96, therefore the reason it was included as an extra. Premiere goes by when it entered the chart, not just the Top 40.

Are there any stations playing the 1986 show today? (I know KABQ will have it tomorrow).

WGHN must've aired it earlier than 5 central on Saturday. They're running regular music, now.e

Still...does anyone remember this song from then or associate it with August 1983? Maybe the most curveball of all curveball picks...

Still...does anyone remember this song from then or associate it with August 1983? Maybe the most curveball of all curveball picks... It gets a good amount of recurrent play, and is heard quite a bit in other media (including even TV commercials), so it makes good sense as an optional extra. I usually don't think 1983 when I hear it (it's the live version that entered the Hot 100 that week, while most of the replay goes to the 1970s studio version), but since it was on the chart that's a logical place to put it as an 80s optional extra. The studio version would work as an extra in an April or May 1977 show as that was when it was on the Hot 100.

I remember hearing that song throughout the early months of 1989, and not much earlier than that. Some of that probably had to do with Edie Brickell being a new artist at the time, so it took a while for that song to take off up the chart.
