So the holiday stuff is not starting next weekend. Which is fine with me; IMO it shouldn't at least until Thanksgiving, or maybe the weekend before it. I'd have thought that 1985 would have been better paired with 1980 or 81 for more contrast, but I do love me some 1983. So I'll have to somehow find both shows. There's hope we might get 12/28/1985 during Christmas weekend. Not sure if we'll get 11/30/85, however. So that could be the show that is eliminated if 1982 is indeed the year-ender on deck and is technically counted as a new show. Of course, you never know; Premiere does tend to play favorites with 1985 (case in point: The first half of 2013, when the year was featured four times within a three-and-a-half month period). It wouldn't surprise me if we get both yet-unplayed shows this year.

Actually yes; an early version of Expose recorded a version of "Point of No Return" that hit the Billboard dance/disco chart in 1985-86. The group was then completely reconstituted before recording a full album, including a redo of PONR that became a pop hit in 1987. that's interesting. I just read up on that on wikipedia and listened to the original. I'm very familiar with the "original" Expose version of PONR. It was played quite a bit on the Miami radio stations.

That change looks to be in honor of Pete Burns.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 11/14/87 2nd Guess - 11/15/86
The '87 show would be a repeat from 2009, the '86 show from 2013. I think we get 1986 before the end of November, but probably not next week. A good chance this is the last 1987 show of 2016 if that's what ends up getting played...

WWIS still has country music bleeding into station. One would think this would be an easy fix..

I think 1986 might be, well, 86'd for the rest of the year. As laura mentioned above. Premiere swapped in "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) as an OE this week ostensibly in memory of Pete Burns . If 1986 was coming up soon they could have honored him by using "Brand New Lover", which debuted on the Hot 100 11/29/86, as an OE instead of YSMR (LAR), which was long gone from the Hot 100 by this week in 1985.

WWIS still has country music bleeding into station. One would think this would be an easy fix.. They posted it is an equipment issue and can't be fixed until they get new hardware. Hope it's soon. The bleed-in of the FM stream onto the AM stream is very noticeable and annoying today. Oh well, I know I'm not paying to listen to them...

Not playing it as such for the rest of the year would make for a four month drought, which is pretty long. Though it's possible that Premiere might hold back on it in anticipation of playing it as the year end show; they've never played the full top 100 of 1986 before.

Or maybe the 12-20-1986 episode will finally be played the weekend before Christmas weekend on AT40: The 80's. Any word on if the Christmas B shows start next weekend with 1 AT40: The 70's and 1 AT40: The 80's each yet?
