This week's optional extras are... Hour #1: "It's Raining Men" - The Weather Girls Hour #2: "Come On Eileen" - Dexys Midnight Runners Hour #3: "Billie Jean" - Michael Jackson Hour #4: "Back On The Chain Gang" - The Pretenders
The Pretenders prevented freayflybry from a potential 0-fer this week with Mike Kasem doing the voiceovers.

What happened to Ed McMahon? Its seems Mike Kasem is doing the intros now. Maybe Ed McMann is on vacation. On the other hand why should Mike Kasem not introduce the AT40 70's and 80's programs when he has to record the current AT20 program. Premiere would be better off, wouldn't they. Just from the economic point of view.

I'm predicting 1988 as well (probably 1/23/88 as that seems to be a frequent choice)

I liked the story Casey told about Rick Nelson's determination to be a recording artist-You'll recall his twin sons,Gunnar & Matthew, became stars in their own right circa 1990 when "Can't Live Without Your Love & Affection" went to #1.

The name of Gunnar & Matthew's group was Nelson.

I think it is true that KQLL is skipping the last AT40 extra. During last week's show I heard just the first couple of words "and now" and then they went in to local advertising. Oh, well. At least we get three of them.

Welcome back Scott! Here's the playlist (Casey's first 1988 show after Charlie Van Dyke subbed the previous two weeks): www.oldradioshows.com/at40/012388.htmlBtw is there any confirm if Mike Kasem is now doing the additional voiceovers for the '70s and '80s shows?

Btw freakyflybry because this week's show is a repeat, I'll have a guess at what the optional extras will likely be:
Endless Summer Nights - Richard Marx I Hear It Through The Grapevine - California Raisins Hysteria - Def Leppard Dude (Looks Like A Lady) - Aerosmith
I'm calling this right now.

so we've come full circle...for me. This was the 1st show I recorded off WQSR (Jack FM) last year, once I was aware they were airing them.

Excellent. I need a break! But thanks, Premier, for your nice string of early '80s shows. My collection is really getting nice.
