On last week's Supersized 78, Casey said Short People was knocking on the door to #1. The only problem is the prior song he reversed jinxed BeeGees when he said Stayin' Alive was looking like another #1.

On 2/1/75, Casey said Stevie Wonder's "Boogie On Reggae Woman" at #3 could be #1 next week. It never climbed any higher. On the other hand, two songs earlier he said Linda Ronstadt was headed for #1 with "You're No Good," and it reached the top two weeks later.

On last week's 1981 show Casey said ABBA was in the business of making big hits and weren't gonna stop. After countdown 'Winner they'd never have another top tenner and would soon take a 40 year break. And what a shame that was, as they were about to record their masterpiece. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HnOFwqpLRQ

In the February 19, 1977 show, Casey hinted that I Like Dreamin' by Kenny Nolan (which was at #5) could be a future #1--song made it to #3, and is probably a 'lost hit' (not much played by radio these days).

Barry Scott's Lost 45's CD Volume 1 does feature a lost hit by Kenny Nolan - "Love's Grown Deep".

On the 1984 show Casey introing Gambler's 'Woman said Barry Gibb was rarely off the charts as a producer/ songwriter. Other than his own Shine x 2 which grazed the bottom of the top 40 later that year, I don't recall Barry reaching the top 40 again until One in 1989.

In a reverse jinx from 1977, Casey said Barry Manimellow was a step away from a top tenner. He'd spend a couple Weekends there starting with the next panel.

On February 11, 1978, Casey said that the Animals' "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" peaked at #15, and if Santa Esmerelda "keep moving like they are, they'll take it even higher" with their version, which was at #17 that week.
SE matched but didn't surpass the Animals' peak; on this week's B show (2/25/78) they dropped from 15 to 30 and then out.

Speaking of this week's B show for February 25, 1978, Casey Kasem had this to say: "Well it looks like 15 is getting to be a habit for this next song, back in 1965 The Animals featuring Eric Burdon took it upto #15, and that's the same position it peaked at in its current version, that was last week, this week it falls, 15 notches, here's Santa Esmeralda featuring Leroy Gomez and Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" Ironically, War featuring Eric Burdon had an AT40 Extra earlier in the hour with "Spill the Wine" from 1970!

On February 21, 1987 Casey introduced "Ballerina Girl" as Lionel Richie's 13th top 10 of the 1980s. He wouldn't hit the top 10 again in that decade (or any other). This would allow Madonna who was in 2nd place at that time with 11 to overtake him. She would later have "La Isla Bonita", "Who's That Girl", "Causing A Commotion", "Like A Prayer", "Express Yourself" and "Cherish".
Jinx for Richie; reverse jinx for Madonna.

On this week's 1980 show Casey said w/Desire the team of Karl Richardson, Albhy Galuten, Barry Gibb and Andy Gibb were batting six for six with top tenners. They'd never reach top ten base again.
