IIRC, he made that prediction more than once. But Love So Right stopped at #3. Which is why it is mentioned in this thread.

On 11/26/83, Casey notes that three songs on the chart were written/produced by Jim Steinman, remarking "he's hot." Within a few months, Jim would be gone from the pop charts for nearly a decade.

But Love So Right stopped at #3. Which is why it is mentioned in this thread. Casey So Wrong I wonder if at this point Robin and Maurice were biting their tongues hearing that Barry-falsetto all the time or if they were just happy to be on their way to the bank. Someone should have called for an intervention with Barry at this point. There's a difference between loving the Stylistics and thinking you sound as good as them. It's seriously a shame because their harmonies were fantastic before he fell in love with his own high pitch. Maybe Casey was trying to wishful-think Rick Dees from returning to #1. But Rod Stewart came to the rescue so it became a moot point.

On last week's 1972 show Casey said the Stylistics' Stone In Love With You was "looking like a contender for #1". It only peaked at #10. The Stylistics never made it to #1 on Billboard's Hot 100, but they came close peaking at #2 in 1974 with "You Make Me Feel Brand New".

On AT40: The 70's 12/2/1978 for one of the AT40 extras Casey mentioned to tie into "Over My Head" by Fleetwood Mac (featuring the late Christine McVee supplying lead vocals) that Fleetwood Mac's self titled album was the slowest climbing #1 album taking 58 weeks finally reaching #1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart in September 1976, although that record would be broken in 1989 when the album "Forever Your Girl" by Paula Abdul became the slowest climbing #1 album reaching #1 in 64 weeks on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

On the 12/5/81 show, Casey said Barbra Streisand was trying for her 6th number 1 with "Coming In and Out of Your Life," which leaped from 30 to 19, but would ultimately stop at #11.
I, too, was expecting it to go much higher.
