In a reverse jinx on last week's 1984 show, Casey said it looked like Richie was gonna take another ballad to #1. Lionel would soon say Hello to the top.

On the 5/3/03 show, Casey did a story on Madonna hitting the Radio & Records charts for 21 consecutive years, the most for a woman. Come 2004 and she didn't score a hit that year, thus breaking that streak.

On the show from 8/20/77, Casey said Floaters had the #1 soul song and they were "headed that way on AT40"; They wouldn't quite Float to the top, settling for #2

That's why I specified it as Radio & Records, which was the chart AT40 was using at the time.

In the 4/28/79 show, Casey 'jinxed' then-hot Infinity Records but good, in the intro to Orleans' "Love Takes Time", which was on the label: By November of '79 they would be toast, thanks in part to Pope John Paul II. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinity_Records

In a reverse jinx on this week's 1979 show Casey said; there it is the potential sixth straight #1 for BeeGees. Love You Inside Out would become the Gibbs last chart topper a few weeks later.

Reverse jinx: On last week's 1979 show Casey said keep an eye on BeeGees. The way Tragedy was moving it definitely looked like a #1. It would soon become Brothers 5th straight chart topper. Yes, that was a 'no-brainer'. It would be the next single that would require some 'funny business' to keep their (and RSO's) #1 streak intact. Do tell!

Long rumored the RSO pressured Billboard to have "LYIO" dethrone "Hot Stuff" at #1 for a week to keep the BeeGees' #1 singles streak alive, similar to their alleged pressure the previous year to keep "Baker Street"from knocking "Shadow Dancing" out of #1 for a week or two. RSO 'played hardball'.

Yes, it seemed very suspicious that the song would be strong enough to knock "Hot Stuff" out of the top spot, as strong as that song was.
Now, if they had moved it to #1 the week before, it wouldn't have looked quite as suspicious, although people might still be wondering how it was able to leapfrog over "Hot Stuff".

RSO Records' final #1 was "Maniac" by Michael Sembello in September 1983.

RSO Records' final #1 was "Maniac" by Michael Sembello in September 1983. Nope. "Maniac" and the rest of the Flashdance soundtrack were on Casablanca. Here's the link to the label image: www.45cat.com/record/8125167us

RSO 'played hardball'. It wouldn't surprise me if that happened, seeing that it didn't even hit #1 on the other three major charts (Cashbox, R&R, and Record World). At least Hot Stuff knocked it out back out a week later.
