ORC-FM played the third optional extra, then played the final segment from LAST week's 70s show (6/7/75)! Can anyone find me the final segment from THIS week? The rest of the show appears to have been correct.

KKLZ in Las Vegas didn't air the second optional extra from the 6/17/76 show which was "A Fifth Of Beethoven" by Walter Murphy-However,they did play "Play That Funky Music" & "The Thrill Is Gone".

I wonder if Premiere really MEANT to play the Rockford files :53 sec intro theme instead of the full song as an opt. extra? Other than that this was a great show. This may be the first show i heard from a distant static filled FM station on a Sunday afternoon. the next week i found it on a local station on Sunday morning. they ran it 6-9am and 9-noon so i could wake up and record the top ten before church. sometimes i had to record it on the static filled station but they re-ran it on Thursday nights and the signal was a tad better at night even on FM. oh well i never put my first listen thoughts on the other thread and since this show reminded me thought i would share! have a great weekend all!!! I am finally listening to this show now and heard that. Wow. Why even bother playing it at all?! But I'm sure they did mean to play it since they would know how the show clocks out.

Maybe by playing a shorter version of the song, that meant they didn't have to edit any songs within the countdown.

There was at least one factual in the 6/19/76 countdown:
Casey refers to "Kiss and Say Goodbye" as the Manhattans' first Top 40 hit. Actually, it was their second. "Don't Take Your Love" had reached #37 early in 1975.

Anyone listening to CKWW right now? I was expecting to hear this past weekend's '76 show but...6/23/73 is being played. Is this a mixup or will they regularly be airing the upcoming weekend's show on Tuesdays?

That would be cool if it were for the next week. Possibly one less weekend recording needed.

Just for funsies, some other songs that were breaking and bound for the top 20 on the Hot 100, which had yet to appear in the top 40 this particular week (other than the listed extras):
* "The Monster Mash," the re-release by Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt Keepers. * "Misdemeanor" by Foster Sylvers. * the song that was in and out and in and out of the top 40 for most of the late spring, summer and into the late fall ... "Why Me" by Kris Kristofferson. * "Touch Me in the Morning" by Diana Ross. * "Funky Worm" by the Ohio Players. * "Get Down" by Gilbert O'Sullvan. * "I Believe in You (You Believe in Me)" by Johnnie Taylor. * "Are You Man Enough" by the Four Tops. * "Brother Louie" by Stories.
Incidentally, a couple of songs not peaking in the top 40, but staples of classic rock radio today:
* "Tequilla Sunrise" by the Eagles. Debuted at No. 92 this week, en route to a No. 64 peak in July. * "Roll Over Beethoven" by the Electric Light Orchestra. Took a big 20-notch leap to No. 59 this week, eventually peaked at No. 42. Had been on the chart since the end of April, and would never quite get onto AT40.
Incidentally, aside from "Why Me," only Johnny Rodriguez's "You Always Come Back to Hurting Me" and Donna Fargo's fourth hit, "You Were Always There," were on their way up the chart. Not really AT40 extra-worthy, though; Rodriguez was in his debut week at No. 100, and would go on to peak at No. 86 a couple of weeks later during just a four-week stay on the pop chart; Fargo spent seven weeks on the chart and only made it to No. 93 on the Hot 100, a far cry from just a year earlier with her winsome breakthrough, "The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA."

Casey promo-ed his upcoming special "The #1 Songs of the Past Forty 4th of Julys" -- I don't remember hearing that show in '76, does anyone? Did he actually play a bunch of songs from the '30s & '40s? If you subscribe to the amazing www.reelradio.com you'll be able to hear that complete broadcast, along with hundreds of other old radio shows!

Getting to that time of year again and my sad refrain: will we EVER get to hear any of those missing Summer 1972 shows? 7/15/72 to 8/19/72, to my knowledge, have never been played (I've been listening since '08). 8/5/72 was a special (though, wow, would I love to hear it - mostly obscure album cuts), so we'll excuse that one. This still leaves 7/15, 7/22, 7/29, 8/12, 8/19. What giveth?
