Still hoping it's 11/10/1979 (4 hours - first hour optional) That would be a timely selection seeing as Quincy Jones has just died. His first Michael Jackson produced hit "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough", one of my favorite songs they collaborated on, is in it. Then maybe if 11/10/1979 is on deck for this coming weekend, one of the OPTIONAL EXTRAS could be Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" also produced by Quincy Jones to pay tribute.

Quincy also produced the music for "Roots" and wrote the theme for "Sanford and Son," officially known as "The Streetbeater." It was released as a single in 1973 but did not chart.

And there was also Quincy's "Chump Change" which was the New Bill Cosby Show theme in 1972 and the theme to the game show "Now You See It" aired on CBS in 2 incarnations in 1974-1975 (hosted by Jack Narz) and in 1989 (hosted by Chuck Henry).

Similar to the H&I cable channel running the Teri Garr 'Star Trek' episode a few days back. They run the episodes in season order and it just happened to come up right after she passed.

Same with MeTV as this weekend's show just so happens to be "Assignment: Earth" even after all the Halloween themed content put Star Trek on hold for a month.

I would anticipate a re-recorded intro by Larry Morgan for "Rock With You" at best.

This is one of the most star-studded tops of the chart in AT40 history. With the exception of M, using the 1993 Record Research Top Pop Singles book, the lowest ranked artist in the top 10 is KC & the Sunshine Band at 122 with the others all near or in the top 100. And M has his own select group that he is in...artists who had the first #1 hit in a genre which is synth rock in his case. The week before this superstar dominance extended to #13.

Casey answered what was asked but it would have been informative if he had touched on airplay in addition to sales as relates to #1 hits. Not sure AT40 had access to this data, but it would have been nice if he had given examples of #1 hits that sold 50,000 or 300,000 copies. The Chartbeat and Hot 100 Spotlight columns which gave such details would not surface until the 80s. Tough way to end the decade for many people's #1 artist of the 70s...Elton John. "Victim of Love" is his lowest charting hit since "Tiny Dancer" and without the classic status that song has. He jumped on the disco bandwagon after the horse had left the barn. Good song nonetheless IMO. And a great song, my favorite by Pablo Cruise, is "I Want You Tonight". Should have been in the top 10 like their pair of #6 hits.

I'll go with 11/16/74 over 11/13/71 & 11/20/71 for next weekend. The 1974 show last aired in 2015. 1971 has not been featured as an A show since August. 11/13/71 was last featured by Premiere in 2016, while 11/20/71 was last featured in 2015.
