First Class was a British studio group that featured Tony Burrows on lead vocals-He was also the lead vocalist with the groups White Plains,Brotherhood Of Man,& The Pipkins whose songs were heard on the initial episode of "AT40" on the July 4th weekend of 1970.
Just to clarify: Ricky Wolff sang lead vocals on the White Plains' hit, "My Baby Loves Lovin'". Tony Burrows sang background vocals. And of course, Tony shared lead vocals with female singer, Sunny Leslie, in the verses of "United We Stand".

Layng Martine got local airplay in my area (Southern AZ) back in the late summer of '71 with his original version. It reached 65 on the Hot 100 (8 weeks), but not until early November. Yet another 'summer' song that peaked well into the fall.
Not only did it receive local airplay where I grew up, it was a #1 single. It was produced by Ray Stevens on his Barnaby record label.

The Billy Craddock "Rub it In" ad mentions Billy's appearance on a Dick Clark monthly American Bandstand replacement at the time called "Sound 1974", but doesn't it mean "Action 1974" and it is set on a local beach hosted by Dick Clark?
Correct. The ad appears to be in error. Action '74 on that date had the following guests and songs:
Blue Magic sing "Stop to Start" and "Sideshow." Billy "Crash" Craddock performs "Rub It In" and "Ruby Baby."

Sure wish I had a complete episode of Dick Clark's Action 1973-1974 specials like this episode mentioned on a DVD somewhere if one surfaces/comes up.

I was wondering if these shows suffered the same fate as the American Bandstand shows during this time frame. A few different stories out there, like the tapes were accidentally written over or lost in a fire. I have seen a few clips surface on YouTube. If only VCRs would have been affordable at the time.....

I'd lean towards the 1979 B show. 1975 doesn't get paired with other shows in the 1970-1975 range when it's the A show.

WTOJ Magic 103.1 goes with 8/4/79 for the weekend. I guess 8/4/1979 is the A show and 8/2/1975 is the B show for this coming weekend.
