"Laugh-In" was # 1 for two consecutive years-Once the popular performers such as Goldie Hawn,Jo Anne Worley,Arte Johnson & Henry Gibson left, the ratings began to plummet. Probably the biggest 'star' among the remaining cast that final season was Lily Tomlin, who had come onboard midway through the third season, in early 1970. And that's the truth. Ptttth.

On AT40: The 70's 3/31/1973 following "Peaceful" by Helen Reddy at #26, was there a bad edit with Casey saying "Coming up..." then the start of "Little Willy" by the Sweet started as Casey mentioned the next week's 1973 AT40 special of the Top 40 songs of the past 5 years?

I thought I had changed that. My bad. It's the correct show, though.

Dave Madden was on Laugh In for awhile (he would play Ruben Kincaid on the Partridge Family , the manager) --and of course, there was the one hit wonder--Mr. Daisy A Day--Jud Strunk.

Casey's prediction next #1 would be false which was Neither One of Us, the next #1 was actually The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.
Neither One of Us would peak #2.
Larry Morgan said other genres in #1: Sylvia - Pillow Talk, changed opt xtra3.. #1 soul Neither One of Us #1 country Keep Me in Mind #1 easy listening Carpenters - Sing

I don't think anyone foresaw "The Night.."'s jump from 10 to 1; it wasn't among the three possible #1's Casey mentioned. At least he didn't have to directly announce that the following week, as instead there was the Top Hits of 1968-73 special ("every song a #1"). And Gladys & Co. got their pop #1 later in the year ("Midnight Train to Georgia".)

Wow--all of these 'Laugh-In' memories! Yes, Madden was on season 2, 1968-69, the first full season of the show, and when it was at its highest popularity (#1-rated prime time series that season and the next). Another regular with other TV successes was Richard Dawson, who was on from '71-73, right after "Hogan's Heroes" ended and right before the start of his decades of game show stardom, first as a regular on the '70s 'Match Game' revival and then as the host of 'Family Feud'. Strunk had two other chart singles: A spoken-word record in the fall of '74 titled "My Country" (#59), and a comedy song the following summer, "The Biggest Parakeets In Town" (#50). Strunk and a passenger died while he was piloting his own aircraft in 1981. He suffered a heart attack just after takeoff from an airfield near his Maine home and crashed his vintage 1941 airplane. He was 45.

Just heard an error near the end of the '73 show, presently wrapping up on KDRI: (Eumir) Deodato's "Prelude" album only reached #3 on the Top 200 LPs chart, not #1 as he stated. Maybe Casey meant to say #1 on the Jazz Albums chart, but inadvertently left out the word 'Jazz'?

Taking the “Laugh-In” topic full circle, there were at least 3 singles that reached Billboard’s Top 40 thanks to this fast-paced comedy’s social impact… *Here Comes The Judge – Pigmeat Markham *Here Comes The Judge – Shorty Long *Tip Toe Through The Tulips – Tiny Tim Did I miss any? Go ahead, “Sock It To Me!"

I also felt "Gimme Dat Ding" by Pipkins used some catch phrases from the show, especially "Ya wanna make an old man happy?"

I'm thinking that the guy who sang the low notes on "Gimme Dat Ding" did a fantastic impression of Tyrone who was a regular character on "Laugh-In".
