Should've gone with December 12, 1970. One of my favorites. The countdown featured Elton John's Top 40 debut one notch behind Aretha Franklin's cover of Elton's Hot 100 debut. That's also among my all-time favorites, but he meant December 5, 1970, using December 12, 1970 chart, not December 12, 1970, using December 19, 1970 chart!

AT40 12-06-1975. Just in case someone is missing it, after number 6 there was an original extra, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by Joan Baez, edited out on this program. Does anybody remember if that extra was used on another program as an optional extra? sndup.net/swdq/In its place this Premiere version of the program repeats the question/answer earlier aired after number 38.

Thanks for the correction. Darn. While any early show is good to hear, I'd have liked to have heard the two Elton songs back-to-back. And the date of the following week's show is a closer match.

It was used as the third optional extra in the same program, but between #3 and #2. I thought that was odd. Why not just leave it alone?

There was even one other AT40: The 70's show that used the same in the show QL - a September 1972 show.

I'll go with 12/22/79 for next weekend. 12/22/79 was last aired by Premiere in 2011. 1979 is due. Every year has been featured since the last time 1979 was the "A" show.

I doubt that we'll hear a countdown next weekend because of the Christmas holiday-However,I could be wrong.

And if next weekend's AT40: The 70's show is 12/22/1979, these would be my OPTIONAL EXTRA predictions: HOUR #1: "If You Leave Me Now" - Chicago (Original AT40 Archive extra, the other 2 - "Rock 'n Me" by Steve Miller Band and "Tonight's The Night" by Rod Stewart - would stay in the broadcast). HOUR #2: "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - Queen HOUR #3: "Romeo's Tune" - Steve Forbert HOUR #4: "September Morn" - Neil Diamond

I doubt that we'll hear a countdown next weekend because of the Christmas holiday-However,I could be wrong. In 2017, the last time Christmas Eve fell on a Sunday, we got the following shows: 12/18/1971 12/28/1985 My 12/28/1985 recording was made on 12/24/2017.

I doubt that we'll hear a countdown next weekend because of the Christmas holiday-However,I could be wrong. Pete says that there will be a regular weekly 80s show next weekend, so there should be a regular 70s countdown as well, though finding both shows at a convenient time may require some effort due to many affiliates, even those that usually play regular shows, playing all Christmas music, and thus Premiere’s holiday countdowns or no Casey at all.
