mkarns,WTOJ is focused on holiday music at the present time. I wonder if WTOJ will do a Supersized version of the 1971 AT40 Christmas countdown on Sunday morning.

2 years ago, Sirius XM aired shows from 1972,1974,1977,1978 & 1979 over the previous 5 weeks. The last 5 weeks, Premiere has aired shows from 1972,1974,1977,1978 & 1979. Identical except for the 1972 shows being a week apart. Next week 2 years ago, SXM aired 11/15/75. 7 of the last 8 primary ("A") shows previously aired as the "A" show in 2016 or 2017. 11/15/75 last aired in 2017. Given that, I'll go with 11/17/73 over 11/22/75 for next weekend. 11/17/73 last aired in 2008. 11/22/75 last aired in 2010. 11/22/1975 could be possible for the last weekend (Thanksgiving weekend) of November 2023, although I am hoping for the Thanksgiving weekend 11/27/1971 which hasn't been played since 2011. I was hoping 1975 would wait until December 2023 when 12/6/1975 or 12/13/1975 could be played.

Does WPAC still have the three hour version of the week's show available on-demand for a week? I can't seem to find the link anymore and the one in my bookmarks no longer works.

I've found that WPAC sometimes removes the 'available all week' 3 hour version by Thursdays.

I've found that WPAC sometimes removes the 'available all week' 3 hour version by Thursdays. Well, that's a bummer! I missed my chance to hear the show. There have been times when I don't get around to listening to the show until Friday and then I listen to it during the afternoon, in place of the WWIS broadcast of American Top 40: The 80s. By the way, where is the link to the "available all week" show (as it is no longer on the AT40 Current Station List thread).

Listen – On Demand (Available after the conclusion of this broadcast): ice42.securenetsystems.net/media/WPAC/ondemand/Casey-Kasem.m4a (3 hours avail. for 1 week) I think this is link still works, albeit not for the entire week as I mentionedice42.securenetsystems.net/media/WPAC/ondemand/Mornings.m4a (4 hours avail. for 1 day) Not sure if this link is still valid. I think there's another link out there where the end of the URL is something like "AT4070s.m4a" (or something like that). I think someone replied to a post of mine months ago with the other URL. I'll see if I can hunt it down... Found it... ice42.securenetsystems.net/media/WPAC/ondemand/AT4070s.m4a

Well, I guess that'll teach me to listen to the show before Thursday. Oh well, at least I have heard the show before.

WXXM Rewind 92.1 FM Madison, Wisconsin in Christmas music sweep is now airing the AT40: The 70's 1971 Top 40 Christmas Hits special this weekend. (May or may not be supersized on WTOJ). Hope WVLI Kankakee airs the AT40: The 70's 11/12/1977 show this afternoon after airing a June 1973 show by accident/mix up last week! And for one of the songs on the AT40 1971 Christmas countdown, the #37 entry is "The Happy Reindeer" by Dancer, Prancer, and Nervous, who even did for a follow up a non Christmas song related to birthdays: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrF__B0RuqE

Still hoping that the weekend of 11-17/18 will be 1973, longest show without play. Just looking at the Cue Sheets for this coming weekend's show--is this when we get the ultra short version of "It's Ecstasy" by Barry White? Cue sheet indicates 8:27 for "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," "Ecstasy" and "Nobody Does It Better." One other segment that seriously edits two songs is the opening of hour #2-- #27--Keep It Comin' Love--K.C. & the Sunshine Band #26--Come Sail Away-Styx Total time for the segment is listed at 5:54. The K.C. song is close to 4 minutes and the 45 edit of Styx is close to 3 minutes--which should be close to 7 minutes (obviously one song is probably edited and the other faded out extremely early). The other thing that surprises me is that during hour #1 there is time to play an extra--Mr. Bojangles by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (between #29 & #28). Of course, Premiere turned that song into an optional extra. Translation, this show desperately needs a Supersizing which unfortunately we'll probably never hear as Ken mentioned Xmas tunes are a windfall of ca$h for WTOJ.

I don't think any of the songs there are shortened/edited enough to merit supersizing. And this countdown has already been altered from its original version; current plays of it include several songs that the AT40 staff wasn't able to find playable copies of in 1971, with altered/new Casey intros to match.

The “serious editing” extended to the end, when, in what I’m sure was Premiere’s doing, nearly half of the #1 song (the second verse and chorus) was cut out. And while not everyone will complain about less “You Light Up My Life”, it arguably feels inappropriate somehow to shorten the top song so much.

In his intro to "Slip Slidin'..." Casey says Paul Simon's new LP is called Blatant Greatest Hits. That was the orig working title but it ended up being called Greatest Hits, etc.

WVLI Kamkakee if finally airing this weekend's AT40: The 70's show - November 12, 1977! The correct slated weekend's show after playing a June 1973 show instead of 11/4/1978 (and for AT40: The 80's the 6/8/1985 show instead of 11/5/1983) by mistake last week!
I bet the station has also to play after this the AT40: The 80's show of November 14, 1981!
