I agree with all 5 you list above. I'd add the Bobby Womack and Ojays 'lost' 45s as well. And even late-period Elvis does a good job with a Tony Joe White song.

I'll go with 4/1/72 over 3/31/73 for next weekend. Both shows last aired in 2015. For the B show, I'll go with 4/3/76 over 3/27/76. 3/27/76 could be next week's show on XM. 4/2/77 aired last year. 4/1/78 is a special.

Here's a fact Casey never shared, the artist in the #1 spot of this week's 1974 show hated this song. This artist didn't particularly care for most of their hits, but this one they really didn't like. The artist said it was embarrassing at the time to be hanging out with Mick Jagger and Jack Nicholson and all over the radio with THIS song!!!

Leading into "WOLD", on 3/23/74 Casey did a story about the real-life station with those call letters in Marion, VA. Today WOLD-FM is a classic rock station; what used to be WOLD-AM is now the gospel-formatted WHNK.

From what I recall Cher wasn't particularly fond of any of her three #1 singles in the first half of the '70s. Maybe she liked "Believe", that I don't know. And who knows what she thought/thinks about "Take Me Home" (or at least the album cover ) But Sonny had an ear for a hit, even though he did pass on "The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia".

If she could turn back time....she would have recorded some different songs, or at least chosen others as singles.

I checked and couldn't find either. I did find an oldies station from New Jersey called "WOLD-LP" (107.9 FM) on TuneIn.

And who knows what she thought/thinks about "Take Me Home" (or at least the album cover ) But Sonny had an ear for a hit, even though he did pass on "The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia". She hasn’t liked the majority of her songs. After 1974 it would be five years before she scored another hit, even though she released an album each year. Gene Simmons got her a deal with Casablanca and it was suggested she do a disco album, which she didn’t want to do. Of her two disco albums, “Take Me Home” is better than its follow up “Prisoner”. Her third and final Casablanca release “Black Rose” is the album she wanted to make, but the public had no interest in it (but it is pretty good). She didn’t even want to record “If I Could Turn Back Time” but has said that it actually turned out pretty good. When she resumed regular touring in 1989 she wasn’t doing any of the early 70’s hits. These songs hadn’t been sung on stage since they were first released. She avoided doing them until her late 90’s shows when people kept asking if she’d ever sing them again. They have since become show staples.
