All we need to know now is which stations will play 1971.

For 5/8/71: Hour #1: "Monday, Monday" - The Mamas & The Papas Hour #2: "Way Down Yonder In New Orleans" - Freddy Cannon Hour #3: "Hosanna" - Jesus Christ Superstar According to jdelachjr2002: Premiere added the "My Blue Heaven" extra back in, which was deleted from past airings. This is correct information. Also, note that the other original countdown extras -- Bobby Vinton's "There I've Said it Again" and Ray Conniff's "Somewhere My Love" -- remain within the program.

For 4/28/79: Hour #1: "Makin' It" - David Naughton (#56) Hour #2: "Keep On Truckin'" - Eddie Kendricks (original AT40 archive extra) Hour #3: "Old Time Rock 'n Roll" - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (#41) Hour #4: "Dance The Night Away" - Van Halen (#68; debuted) Interesting that these are the same four extras from the previous airing on 2012. However the hour #2 and #4 extras have been swapped -- "Keep On Truckin'" was the hour #4 extra and "Dance the Night Away" was the hour #2 extra last time around. Makes sense--this puts the Eddie Kendrick extra closer to where it fell in the original show. EDIT: I see where LVK's post has "My Blue Heaven" as the 1st hour extra, but jdelachjr2002's post on the Pulse Music Board shows the first hour extra as "Monday, Monday". Jimmy's post indicates that "My Blue Heaven" will be added back in, but not as one of the optional extras...not sure which one is correct? Despite what jdelachjr2002 said, "My Blue Heaven" wasn't deleted from the 2018 airing. I think what caused the confusion is that it was moved from its original place in the show. It was originally played after #36. However, the 2018 airing played it after #34. It's interesting to see where it will be played this time. Not sure why LVK put it as the 1st hour extra. Maybe he misread jdelachjr2002's post.

Do we know for sure if KOKZ will air 1979? They haven't posted it yet, but it seems pretty sure they will, as lately they've tended to opt for later 1970s B shows when presented with A's from early in the decade, so there's not much reason to think they'll air a 1971 B. And someone there must be aware of the gratitude that many of us nonlocal listeners have for them consistently airing complete four hour 1970s countdowns.

Same here - AT40 didn't start until 9 ET when normally the 4-hour shows start at 8 ET. 4 hour shows will now start at the original start time of 9 AM and run an hour longer. This ^^^ as I expect WTOJ to go w/4hr 1979 this weekend.

I just checked, and yes, they are airing 1979 on Saturday (8am CT) along with 1982 on Sunday.

Does anyone know whether KKLZ fm back in 2018 aired 1971 with optional extras? I remembered listening it in 2018, but I don't remember if they played all opt xtras. I wasn't even sure if I plan on listening it this weekend.. I might be busy with stuff. I did plan to listen 1979 on WPNC.

I am looking for the B show of 02/28/76 this weekend and tried WPAC's on-demand option because I thought there was a good chance they were going to run it this week. No such luck. They are running 02/04/78, the A show from a few weeks back. My next attempt will be 105.7 the Hog tomorrow at 1pm Eastern. WPAC is back. Looks like there is 5 more minutes to the 3 hour option. ice42.securenetsystems.net/media/WPAC/ondemand/Casey-Kasem.m4a

One year after the Beatles break-up and the Top 40 chart dated May 8, 1971 contained 3 of the four with 'solo' hits. ("Power To The People" by John Lennon, Ringo's "It Don't Come Easy" and McCartney's "Another Day") Some time in late April 1971, Chicago's WLS packaged those three songs on-air, along with the fading "What Is Life" by George Harrison, and claimed that they had reunited the Fab Four. Fun times!

Fun times! You also have a couple of cover tunes in the countdown-"Here Comes The Sun" by Richie Havens and "We Can Work It Out" by Stevie Wonder. You can say that this countdown is just crawling with Beatles

Great to hear "Don't You Write Her Off" by the nearly-reunited original Byrds (minus Crosby and one of the two Clark/Clarkes) on the '79 show. Always liked that song. As 'lost' as it is, it does get played on a local 70s-80-90s oldies station, KDRI 'The Drive'.
