Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 8/19/72 2nd Guess - 8/18/79 What would be neat is if they chose both of the above shows as an A/B pairing, with 1979 being the "B" with Hour 1 optional. That is indeed possible, since, technically, 8/18/1979 has already been played - only as a three-hour show before they began giving stations the option of four-hour shows for that year. That might seem highly unlikely, which IMO it is, but Premiere did something sort of similar at the end of 2018, when the "B" show was the 1978 year-ender in an eight-hour format for the first time, instead of the six-hour version (run in 2007 and 2012) that necessitated heavy butchering for most of the songs, a few of them cut down to almost drop-piece lengths. Well, you're partially right about the pairing but wrong about the unlikelihood, as 8/18/79 will be the B with the first hour optional. (But I wonder who will actually play the complete show?) But paired with 1970, not 1972. However, 8/19/72 would still fit the following weekend (August 22-23).

Does KOKZ still avoid the really early shows? They would be one, if they do. Another station could be WPNC.

Hey wow, I was right about what I felt sure would be wrong and vice versa! Glad that we'll (hopefully) be hearing the full show.
I also wonder how many full shows that they'll get around to next year, as well as what's left of this year? There are a handful of those left.

I bet the full December 2, 1978 AT40 show will be played in December (First hour still optional).

Maybe the yet to be played 8/19/1972 AT40: The 70's might air the August 22, 2020 weekend. It would be surprising (and disappointing) if next week's show weren't 8/19/72. Despite the fact of this the only unplayed 3-hour show left, 1972 would be one of the more likely years for two weekends from now. In all likelihood,KOKZ will probably go with 8/18/79. Yes--KOKZ rarely plays shows from 1970, '71, or '72. When 5/12/79 was offered as a 'B' show earlier this year, KOKZ played the full version of it instead of the 'A' (which was 5/20/72). Quite honestly, why play 1970 as the 'A' and 1979 as the 'B'? Strange decision considering 1970 has been played more recently than 1979, and can't we assume that the audience for 1970 music is smaller than that of 1979? Maybe I'm wrong about that, but it is almost a decade further into the past...

By my count, there are still 7 or 8 more shows from 1970 that have not been converted yet.

8/15/70 (only aired previously in 2012) isn't too close to the 7/4/70-aired debut; arguably the first show's airing this year was a special case due to it being the 50th anniversary, but it hadn't been the main option in ten years, since the 40th anniversary, and so was due anyway.
Yet we haven't heard A's from 1971, 1972 (the following week?), 1976, or 1979 since May or June. 1979 being the B next week means the next possible A show from that year would be 9/15/79, which Premiere has only played once (2012). The next possible 1976 show could air the last week of August (8/28/76); 8/28/71 could be played that same week, but I think 1971 probably has to wait until September--nothing from September 1971 has been played in five years.

Any other stations airing the 4-hour version of the 1979 show, preferably Saturday afternoon or any time Sunday? I ask because I work that Saturday until noon, which blows KOKZ out of the water. WPNC is a possibility, if they even decide to go with that show.
Hopefully, WPAC will have the four-hour show on demand, if only for 24 hours.

Right, that's the other thing--there are a number of years that have longer droughts than 1970 does. 8/19/72 likely goes for the weekend of August 22nd. Guessing 8/28/76 for the weekend of August 29th, and 9/4/71 for Labor Day weekend. Then possibly 9/8/73 the weekend of September 12th? It's been a really long time since that show has aired in any capacity...

I believe we'll get 9/8/1973 this year, based on this.

Here are the optional extras for August 6, 1977… Hour #1: Nobody Does It Better – Carly Simon *three weeks away from its Top 40 debut Hour #2: "Paper Roses" – Marie Osmond ( briguy52748, how did you miss this one?) *from the “Book of Records” program feature Hour #3: Keep It Comin’ Love – KC & The Sunshine Band *one week away from its Top 40 debut So is "Paper Roses" an add to the show (rather than an original extra pulled out as an optional)?
