newbie here. just curious if you guys think the originators of the LDD's (if they are still alive)know they are being re-aired..I often think ...as an example "I wonder if Linda who's dedication to Rob in Florida" is still alive or if they ever found love or whatever the case may be.. When they re-aired the show with the 1st LDD, they had segments hosted by Casey to catch up with the two people involved in the letter over the phone. They recounted the events from the letter but I don't really remember if they stayed together. Also I vaguely remember from an episode of Anderson Cooper's daytime show, they had a woman who sent a LDD to her mother or something (again, I vaguely remember) and they played Casey reading it on the show. They must have had a reunion of some kind with the woman and the subject of her LDD.

Extra predictions:
• "I'm Sorry" – John Denver. • "How Long" – The Pointer Sisters. • "Theme from 'Jaws'" – John Williams.
Backup: "SOS" – ABBA. (The only song ever to chart to have a palindrome for both the song title and the artist.)
Longshot extra – for a song that its artist re-recorded in the mid-1980s, after he had a string of country hits. It was a top 10 country hit in 1985 … but for now, 1975, the original was out, and it would peak at No. 21 on the Hot 100 in October:
• "Carolina in the Pines" – Michael Martin Murphey.
Very longshot extra – for a song that debuted on the Hot 100's Bubbling Under chart, stayed there just a week (at No. 107), and then returned a year later after being featured in the movie "Nashville." It did quite a bit better the second time around … got to No. 17 on the Hot 100 in July 1976, and was a No. 1 adult contemporary hit. The song:
• "I'm Easy" – Keith Carradine.

Yay! Another 1975 show to add to my collection. Fantastic year for music. This is the week that "One of These Nights", a former number one for the Eagles, rebounded from 4 to 2 on the survey. That wasn't unusual for a song to do in 1975, as it happened on at least one other occasion: "Philadelphia Freedom" by Elton began to climb back up the chart after beginning to decline upon falling out of the top spot earlier that summer. Here are my Op Ex picks:
I'm Sorry - JOHN DENVER Dance With Me - ORLEANS They Just Can't Stop It (Games People Play) - SPINNERS

Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess: 8/19/78 2nd Guess: 8/28/76 I would be surprised if we don't hear 1978 next week, but you never know... I believe that 8/19/78 was the week when the top 14 songs held the same position as the previous week. The 8/28/76 countdown was when there was only one debut song, "Teddy Bear." I believe that was the week when Casey answered a question about acts whose only Hot 100 entry reached #40.

Backup: "SOS" – ABBA. (The only song ever to chart to have a palindrome for both the song title and the artist.) I still can't forget how Premiere switched the more-recent "Name of the Game" for "SOS" as an op-ex the other year. I've heard both versions, and the original is still the better. Has it been long enough since June 28/29 when they had "Easy" in the (6/26/76) countdown after its "Nashville" reissue? dL

Yuck - "I'm Sorry" is a dreadful song, as are most of John Denver's ballads. The other two are good...
