Casey noted that there were seven family acts in the top 40 on 8/7/71, but actually they were only six. "Dave and Ansil Collins" sounds like a brother duo, but "Dave" is actually Dave Barker, who just used his first name on record, and isn't related to Ansil Collins.

Would have been called "Dave Barker and Ansil Collins" for the "Double Barrel" single.

WPNC already is airing Aug 12, 1978, i listened third hour due to me being busy.
Opt xtra #3 notably updated due to Chuck Mangione recent death.
I listened WPAC on demand only first hr and second hr plus opt xtra1 and optxtra2. I former listened back in 2022, last time.
Also Summer Nights song was also included in Grease megamix in 1996 as Larry Morgan mentioned.
I listened Aug 7, 1971 on WHNR and KTRQ..

Fingers crossed that we're getting a 1974 show this week. Or maybe this weekend is 8/18/1973.

Two of the OE's for 8/18/73 were future # 1 hits:"Half Breed" & "The Way We Were".

Two of the OE's for 8/14/73 were future # 1 hits:"Half Breed" & "The Way We Were". Assume 'TWWW' is a tribute to co-writer (with wife Marilyn and Marvin Hamlisch) Alan Bergman, who recently died. The song would not chart on the Hot 100 until late November.

Enjoying 39 of the 40 songs. The one coming up at #9, though...not so much. Now, 54 years later, it sounds painfully dated. The news clips are even older, adding to the feeling. But the most recent events were only three years past when the song came out, so I can see how it would've appealed to a lot of people at the time. The message still rings true – dreams of unity and freedom, and no longer with the words that Tom Clay has the little boy attempt to define. Brian

Kicking off the 'weekend' on WSQL with the 8/18/73 show. Casey selling Billy Preston just a bit short--"Outa-Space" had peaked at #2 the previous year, not #3.
This is also the show in which the LOWEST of the three debuts comes in at 31. The other two follow at 29 and 27. All three will make the top 10, one will reach the top.

I’ll go with 8/23/75 over 8/26/72 for next weekend. Both shows last aired in 2015. For the B show, I’ll go with 8/25/79.

Casey also mentioned Billy Preston is one of 3 acts who hit the top 10 with instrumental and vocal chart hits - the others were Ray Charles (who ever remember Ray's "One Mint Julip" instrumental?) and Herb Alpert.
