How did the 1978 fit into the WPAC's on-demand player? Did it start late, or have the ending cut off? (BTW, I'm at work right now - otherwise, I would look into that myself)

Prediction for next week:8/2/75. You may want to change your prediction. That show aired just last year.

A few random observations on the '71 show so far: Was surprised that Premiere played the full "Who's Next" version of "Won't Get Fooled Again" rather than the much shorter 45 edit. Bought the 45 (still have it, of course) sometime in August of '71, and it was by far the version most heard at that time. Am also surprised that "Summer Sand" wasn't a much bigger hit than it was (peaked at #33 the following week). Such a perfect summer record! And finally, I can't think of a better parenthetical sub-title than the one that accompanies JB's "Hot Pants, Part One": "She Got To Use What She Got To Get What She Wants". Perfect! When I was listening to the '71 countdown on WUPE-FM this morning, I also heard "Won't Get Fooled Again" as an OE. And I was also surprised to hear what seemed to be the long version (all three verses and no Roger Daltry scream ending the third verse.) However, the announcer cut it off a little before the organ solo, so, in actuality, they didn't play all eight minutes of it. Was the song cut off at that point when you heard it a couple of nights ago?

Definitely not the short Decca 45 edit that was commonly played on top 40 stations in '71, and that I have had for the past 50 years.

Working on an upcoming mono show where Casey plays an oldie. Normally I try to find as many stereo versions of songs to replace the original mono offerings but in this case I'm going with the mono original even though I have a stereo version of the song. The reason? The stereo version is not the original. It was a re-recording done 3 years after the single came out. The hit version of the song was never available in stereo. It's really difficult to tell the difference between the mono and stereo version unless you line them up in the multi-track but being faithful to the original is part of my motto when converting these shows to stereo.

I was curious if WTOJ would have a supersized 1978, but no..1971 (with Ken's mono to stereo conversion).

Ken would have posted here that there would have been one, if he did it.

Regarding this past weekend's AT40: The 70's 7/24/1971 show: I didn't know DJ Tom Clay ("What The World Needs Now/Abraham Martin and John" medley) took over Casey Kasem's Detroit DJ duties! And for the the World Needs Now/AM&J follow up Tom Clay released another spoken word record called "Whatever Happened to Love" that failed to make Billboard's Hot 100, I think, here's what the "Whatever Happened To Love" single sounds like: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZukDmQL2H4

7/24/71 has some certifiable classics such as "Sweet Hitchhiker","Get It On" & "Hot Pants". Don't forget the most unique song on the 40, Dave and Ansel Collins' "Double Barrel"! "I...AM THE MAGNIFICENT!!!..."
