This weekend WLIF jumped the gun on AT40/70s. My clock radio went off at 7:53 and they were already at #38, making two different countdowns this weekend where the first song I heard was Barbra Streisand singing "Where You Lead." (SXM played 8/28/71, where #40 was her non-medley version of that Carole King/Toni Stern composition.)

This weekend WLIF jumped the gun on AT40/70s. My clock radio went off at 7:53 and they were already at #38. I just came across the same situation this morning. When I tuned into WLIF-FM for preparation at 7:50, they are playing #39. Btw, I love the sound of WLIF-FM webstream, which I think is the best among the 70's show affiliates.

On this week's show,Casey answered a QL (Question Letter) from a listener who asked if any artist during the rock era had a hit twice with the same song-Casey mentioned that Tommy Edwards,The Ventures,& Barbra Streisand pulled it off-Four years after this show aired, another artist managed to do that:Neil Sedaka with "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do",which went to #1 in 1962-A newer recording of this song managed to reach the top ten in early 1976.

This weekend's upcoming edition of "AT40: The '70s" is using the Billboard chart of 9/5/1970: www.oldradioshows.com/at40/082970.htmlIf anybody's making predictions on optional extras, Premiere will be using the extras that were originally in the show (there were five total but the Old Radio Shows site forgot Creedence Clearwater Revival's "I Heard It Through The Grapevine").

That makes three months in a row that begin with a 1970 show, which is fine, since half that year obviously isn't covered and I don't think this is a rerun. On the other side of the decade, I hope we get another 1978 while we still can (assuming Premiere doesn't attempt to play the four hour 70s AT40s.)
I guess they'll just use three of the original extras as optionals, so many of us should hear all five, if not all in their original places. Some interesting, and unpredictable, selections there.

Predictions for the extras (all original AT40 extras):
I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE-CCR SECOND HAND ROSE-Barbra Streisand DOMINIQUE-The Singing Nun
I think the other 2 original AT40 extras will stay in the show.

Since the show dates are now being released earlier, I shall now predict next weekend's shows earlier as well.
Prediction for next weekend's show: September 11, 1976 (Backup prediction: September 9, 1978)

"Cosmo's Factory" was the #1 album forty years ago this week-CCR's cover of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" was released as a single in early 1976 & peaked at #43 on the Billboard "Hot 100".
