Book of Records from 7/5/1980 would be a great choice. This was the first show aired by new affiliate 66 WNBC-AM in NYC after being on WXLO 99x for 2 years. A Ken Martin version of The Top 100 of 1979 because there were some great hits that year and we were short changed because it was the end of the decade. I'll second a request for a Top 100 of 1979! We were short-changed that year, would love to hear 100 to 51 with some clever editing. I know you can do it!!

That would be a long shot to get done in time for Independence Day, I'm afraid.

Ken, I'd love to hear a mono-to-stereo Year End Countdown from 1971 which originally aired the weekend of 01.01.72. I don't think it has been replayed by Premiere but once back in 2008. In addition to the 1971 Year End Countdown - how about some of the Casey hosted July 4th specials. 07.07.73 Top 40 Disappearing Acts 07.06.74 Top 40 Acts of the 70's So Far 07.05.75 5th Anniversary Show (rebroadcast of 1st show with added Casey intros) 07.02.77 Top 40 Girls of Rock Era 07.01.78 AT40 Acts of the 70's 07.07.79 Top 40 Songs of the Disco Era (1974-1979)

Dear Ken...
My number one request would be for the Top 50 of the 1970's (1/5/80). It encompasses the top songs from over half of AT40's run. I would also like to hear "The Top 40 Most Extraordinary British Hits Of the Rock Era". It's one of the few specials I've never heard. My third wish, oh genie of the board, would be "Top 40 Acts Of the 1970s" from 7/1/78.
Thank you for your consideration! I can't wait to see what you choose.

How about the special in which the number one songs on July 4 for the 40 years up to that point were played? It ran on one of the July 4 weekends in the late '70s, if memory serves. It was Independence Day weekend 1976 that it ran. For the same weekend in 2016, Ken played that show, then added the next 40 years (1977-2016) and played the #1 songs from those years. Will probably dig those out next month. Actually, I wouldn't mind hearing both the AT40 original and Ken's added supplement of that show.

Ken, How about AT40's first special from May of 1971, the Top 40 artists of the rock era. I think I heard that show one time on XM, many years ago. It is the show that stopped AT40 from being a week ahead of the Billboard chart. Thanks for your great work and for taking requests.

I wonder if during the final year of Shadoe Stevens AT40 when only foreign markets carried the final months what the #100-#51 songs for 1994 would have been to go with the top 50 of 1994.

A countdown like that was done on one of the online streaming stations that plays classic hits a few years ago. A ton of great songs in the first half of the 1979 top 100 -- unfortunate that part of the countdown never got played on AT40!

Yeah, I believe the Music Expert Retro Countdown aired a top 100 of 1979 some time back. Not sure of their chart source or methodology off-hand. I unfortunately did not get to hear any of it. Would definitely love to hear a top 100; the BB year-end period had a very early cut-off. That would've been a good year for AT40 to do their own tabulation, which they did for the following five years.

Good news: WSQL has AT40 on time this week. Bad news: They are playing last week's countdown from 6/5/71.
Oh well, in case you missed it, here it is again!

For the Independence Day weekend, Magic 103.1 will celebrate AT40's 50th birthday with non-stop Casey. American Top 40 all weekend long. Here's a question. What shows would you like me to play? Year End countdowns? Some special? Let me know. Thanks, Ken Thanks again Ken for your dedication to American Top 40.
