I guess I'll go ahead an jump on this. Let me start w/ Richmond Virginia, as thats REal easy. I don't know when it started(since I didnt start listening seriously till the mid80s) but Q94 WRVQ aired AT40 in the 80s on sunday morning 8-noon. And subsequently switched to CT40 in 89, back to AT40 in 98 and today they still run AT40 in the same time slot.
Baltimore I remember aired AT40 sunday mornings also on B104 and replayed it at midnight. I believe they also switched to CT40 until B104 died in 1991. AT40 has never returned to Charm city.
Washington DC: At40 I know started in WPGC 95 back in the 70s but they switched to urban in the 80s and Q107 was the new home in the 80s which ran on sunday mornings 8-12. AT40 stayed on Q107 until their death in 1990. Meanwhile CT40 premiered on Power105 in Jan. 89, aired from 7-11am on sunday, where it stayed till THEIR death in 1992. At40 has now resurfaced in DC in January 2004 on Hot99.5, still sunday mornings 8-12. CT40 was heard in 1994 on Z104 Frederick maryland, which reaches part of the dc market, and is considered part of the dc metro area, as they were not allowed to air AT40/CT40 if another station was airing it in DC. I dont recall what time they aired the show, I believe it was Sunday night. Out on the eastern shore of Maryland, Mix106.3 aired CT40 in '92 & '93. This was the only station I knew of that aired the show on Saturday night. I believe it was either 6-10pm (most likely) or 7-11pm. They did re-play it on sunday night @midnight. Tappahanock VA, which is aproximately halfway between Washington DC & Norfolk, VA, ran AT40 in the 80s on 105.5 WRAR. It was heard on Sundays from 3-7pm. I first discovered them in 1984 and I believe they continued AT40 until the late 1980s. And also in the early 90s, CT40 was heard on 96.7 WQCM out of Hagerstown MD, sundays from 9-1pm. They were a rock station so I found it odd they ran AT40. They ceased airing it in 1993. K92 in Roanoke VA, neighbor to Virginia Tech, ran CT40 throughout the 90s, sunday morning 8-noon. I believe they switched to AT40 in 98 and may still run AT40 to this day. I havent gotten down to that area recently to varify. AT40 was also heared breifly in 1985, 1986 on 101.5 fm WFVA Fredericksburg VA. At the time they were a very low powered FM w/ a tower radius of maybe 30 miles. They were subsequently bought out, the power signal was increased so as to reach the dc market and they became B101.5 & airs AT20 now. I also remember AT40/CT40 being heard on Z106/Eagle106 Philladelphia sundays from 9-1pm starting in the 80s. CT40 was also breifly heard on 98 Star fm in Southern Maryland (Lexington Park) for just a couple months in 1991. Maybe there was an issue w/ the neighboring affiliate in dc?!?!or eastern shore?!?!
As for others? I remember a trip to the South 1 time, I heard that Z102 in Savannah GA was airing both AT40 & CT40, I dont recall which was aired when but 1 was in the am, the other pm on Sunday. I'd hafta dig thru my tapes of gingles to listen to promo again. Power98 in Atlanta aired CT40 sunday mornings until they flipped to 99x. in the late 80s early 90s.
