Be like saying Tommy Dorsey & His Orchrestra & Frank Sinatra are one & the same just because he sang on some of their records!!!

Certainly not one of the biggest, but a personal favorite would be the Poppy Family. "Which Way You Goin Billy" and "That's Where I Went Wrong" in 1970. Unfortunately, one of these songs pre-dated American Top 40, but it's always a thrill for me to hear Casey announce "That's Where I Went Wrong" when they air those early AT40 programs.
Ironically, their third single, "Where Evil Grows", made it all the way to #1 in the region where I grew up in 1971. So it's tough for me to think of them as a two-hit wonder.

No Love for The Andrea True Connection? "More, More, More" Pt. 1 (#4) & "New York You Got Me Dancing" (#27) or Til Tuesday "Voices Carry" (#8) & "What About Love" (#26) or Patty Smyth "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough" (#2) & "No Mistakes" (#33) or Tommy Tutone "Angel Say No" (#38) & "Jenny 867-5309" (#4) !!! In all the examples you gave, the lower charting record is considered a "minor hit." So they are not considered two-hit wonders.

reachinforthestars.....Which You Goin Billy was on the first AT40 and that's when Casey said Susan Jacks has the most plaintive voice of any artist on the countdown.
blackbowl....a minor hit is still a hit just the same so all of those artists are 2 hit wonders. In fact, many of us have said some non-top 40 hits are hits too. i.e. yesterday when I said Square Biz by Teena Marie is a hit despite peaking at #51. As a matter of fact, I have a local station that plays that song.

Susan Jacks who recently had a kidney transplant over a year ago is making a come back in western Canada. Her sweet voice that we heard in the '70's hasn't changed and is stronger than ever and she still looks the same....Great! She has a website Susanjacks.com which is worth going to and checking out. BTW "Which Way You Going Billy" was in reference to her brother...Billy.

Thanks for all that info staten......did not know she was referring to her brother. And I still wish she had sung Seasons in the Sun instead of her already ex-husband at the time.

OK, read the article. BIG mistake: Daniel Powter being the only artist in the rock era to spend as many as 5 weeks at #1 and not return to the hot 100... What about Zager & Evans? That crappy song spent 6 weeks at #1 and they never charted again... in 1969! Yeah, Zager & Evans might be one of the best examples of a crappy act that simply caught lighting in a bottle for one song. Just listening to a countdown from '86 this morning...and heard another two-hit wonder: the group Nu Shooz was at #3 with "I Can't Wait". They also hit later in '86 with "Point of No Return", then never reached the top 40 again (although they did have a good song out in '88 called "Should I Say Yes" that peaked at #42, and deserved better IMO).

What I meant by pre-dating AT40 is the chart run of the song. Especially the climb and peak, which are my favorite parts of the countdown. The first AT40 caught the song getting ready to fall off the chart.

Ironically on R&R, "Point Of No Return" missed the top 40, yet "Should I Say Yes" did make it! So they're a two-hit wonder on the two charts but the second hit in each case was a different song!

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned (and I know I am far from alone on this one) if an artist made it to the top 40 more than once, they're not a one hit wonder, and if they had 2 top 40 hits, they're most definately a 2 hit wonder. No One ever remembers Everybody Be Dancin by Starbuck, but they're still a 2 hit wonder....

I was totally wrong then on Procol Harum. They were a three hit wonder. I totally forgot about "Homburg."

Yeah, until you mentioned it, I had forgotten it as well, decent song though!
