Casey certainly seemed to like Wayne Newton's "Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast". On 7/8/72, he called it "dynamite" and said that all manner of singers would be honored to sing a song like it. Did Casey have a peek at the following week's chart? Introing Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast, climbing 26-36 he mentioned that he thought it was going to be Wayne's biggest hit. The following week (which aired last year) he said it "dwarfed" Wayner's previous songs as it moved 15-26. However it still hadn't even matched Danke Shoen, which peaked at #13. While it was unlikely a fast mover would have taken a UTurn in those days, Casey seemed pretty confident and sure enough following week it climbed up to #10 (then to #8 on this week's show.) I just think Casey was very impressed with this song, as we heard with his introduction on the countdown this week. And he was spot on because this was a giant and by far the biggest recording of Newton's career.

I think I posted this a few weeks ago when Too Late to Turn Back Now debuted but Casey mentioned again in the outro to that song that Treat Her Like a Lady was a great song.

In the May 29, 1976 program, Casey told the story of "Waltzing Matilda" by Jimmie Rodgers. He concluded the piece by stating "it's one of my favorite songs of all time."

Don't think he was real fond of "Shannon" by Henry Gross.

Don't think he was real fond of "Shannon" by Henry Gross. Especially when he has to play it right after Dare Me by the Pointer Sisters....lol

On one of the 1970 shows, Casey mentioned that one of his favorites was "Tighter Tighter" by Alive & Kicking.

I recall saying how much he liked EMOTIONS by Helen Reddy couple of times, and sounded disappointed when the song dropped after climbing 3 notches. Also recall him saying how much he liked the lyrics for TELL ME A LIE by Sami Jo as well. He liked Emotions as you wrote and You're My Wrold as others have written, but the Helen Reddy song that he loved, yes loved was... ......... ................... ......................................... You and Me Against the World. Read it and weep everybody that hates that song!

There is probably no better example of a song that I had zero appreciation for when it was new - when I was 17 - but I think is a great and beautiful song now that I have lost my parents and have raised children of my own. Those experiences make all the difference with this song. I really can hardly listen to it. It's that emotional. Paul Williams was an amazing songwriter.

I pilfered a clip of Casey saying "I just love this new record by James Brown", but I can't remember which song he was talking about... Oops.

Fancy that, I was just about to post what I heard him say and then I see that you wrote this post a couple weeks ago. The song is "Papa Don't Take No Mess" and he said that on the 9/21/74 show. Good one!

I remember him liking "The Other Woman" by Ray Parker, Jr. and also I think he enjoyed any Kool and the Gang song because he'd usually say "Koooooooooooool and the Gang!" On 10/27/73, Casey called Kool & the Gang's first hit, "Funky Stuff", one of the best dance records of the year (rightly so). Also this weekend, we heard the 10/18/80 show when Casey referred to Rickie Lee Jones' 1979 hit "Chuck E's In Love" as "terrific"; he said this while introducing the Larsen-Feiten Band, whose leaders backed RLJ up on that song.

Listening to the 3/23/74 AT40, Casey introed John Denver's "Sunshine on my Shoulders" by noting that it was from the TV movie "Sunshine" and said, "Good movie, great song." (At the end of the song he correctly predicted it might well be #1 the following week). He also seemed to like Mocedades "Eres Tu", introing it with "Ahhh...here's that record from Spain" in a tone that suggested that he was refreshed by or pleased to be playing it.
Further down that chart, I'd think he liked Harry Chapin's "WOLD", a story song from a disc jockey's perspective, considering that one of his favorite conversation topics has always been his fellow DJ's.

Good one! Another James Brown record Casey apparently liked was "Escape-ism". On 7/3/71, played by SXM last week, he outroed it by saying "They had a groove going, and they kept it going, and they can keep it going all day long as far as I'm concerned." Speaking of SXM, if Casey has it he'll certainly like this weekend's show if what's been written elsewhere on this board is true: it's 7/10/76, with "Afternoon Delight" at #1.

Bumping it up to mention that, during this weekend's SXM 11/20/76 AT40 broadcast, Casey remarked that he likes "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry as the song was ending .
