This past week's show was from June 28, 1975 - Casey actually announces that for the show next week, they were repeating the first countdown from July 1970 and would stay home and listen. Perhaps that is a fore shadow for next week?

Perhaps that is a fore shadow for next week? It's already been mentioned that they are playing the very first AT40 show this weekend.

With July 4 predictions starting to surface in the 80s thread...would anyone else like to start guessing?

I didn't think to guess for the 70's there so my guess for that is:
Top of the 70's so far from 1978.
Can anyone list the specials that HAVE aired in the past, that'll help the guesses as I doubt they'll repeat anything already aired.

AT40's first-ever show aired both in 2007 and last year, while the 1974 special also aired in 2007 the following week. As for the 80s, the Top 40 Newcomers of the 1980s special from 1988 was aired during the 4th of July weekend, yet that was originally a Memorial Day special. In 2009, there was no non-year end special aired (instead, the 7/19/86 show aired).

The Top 40 Newcomers of the 1980s (So Far) from 1988 was also replayed.

Maybe this has been answered somewhere on this forum, but aside from the two July 4, 1987 shows (one regular, one the Top 40 Hits of the 80s So Far), did AT40 every produce two different shows for one week? I believe SXM played the regular countdown for that week in 2009 and Premiere played the special in 2010.

The first week of July in case anyone was wondering.

In addition to 1987, they also did that in 1986 and 1988, and for both of the specials (Memorial Day, Labor Day) in 1989. But we won't hear the regular show from that day in '88, because it was guest-hosted.

And in case anyone is wondering, yes they will play one of the regular shows if not guest hosted. Last year, they played 7/4/87.

For the 80s, I hope they play the regular show from 7/5/1986 since that was my 7th birthday.

They did play a regular show back on July 4 weekend in 2009 - more specifically, the July 19, 1986 show. Not sure why they went with that one instead of the regular July 5 show, but whatever.
I hope they play a special show this year. The Top 40 Acts of the 80s - So Far (from 1983) would be a good one.

I was expecting the rest of this month to have 80, 81, and 87 in whatever order...but with 83 now in for this coming weekend, this may be a longshot, but...I think we might get the 1980 special for July 4.
Why? I think there might be a good chance of getting 6-20-81 for the following weekend, and then that would be followed with 6-27-87, aka the first 87 show in three months. I don't think 80 will be the last weekend, since 6-28-80 was done in 2009...and I don't think they'll put 80 off until the end of July (after 6-28, 7-26 would be the next regular show yet unaired).
