KZOY is playing 04/03/99 this evening. The sure shot is "I Drive Myself Crazy" by NSYNC. This is the 3rd airing in retro-Dees, the last one being 04/06/2019.

Anyone catch the 4/7/90 show where it goes to the 3/16/91 show for the number one song? There were some big time skips in the 1990 show so I am guessing it must have been bad for the original #1 segment. I was bummed the skips were bad for the Stevie B. “Love Me For Life” song. That was a great song and definitely didn’t reach the status on the charts it deserved.

i recorded the show but didnt listen that intently. I did notice that it skipped starting the top 5. Would of made more sense to use the #1 song from 1/27/90, since that had fallen off by 4/7. but i had not noticed that goof either.

I didn't hear the show, but I remember well how my local station played that Stevie B song as though it were a top 5 hit, and they would alternate between playing the full version and a horribly modified edit. Anytime it came on, it was a coin toss which version you'd hear. I too wish it had been a bigger hit.

KZOY is playing a "Spring Fling/All Request" special tonight. The first song played is "Legs" by Art of Noise. I think the original date is 04/11/87. Little Richard is the special guest.
Edit: No - the correct date is 04/12/86.

They don't seem to care, no matter what. The very first week I was recording the shows in May 2013, the 80s show was listed as 5/16/1987, yet Rick said very early in the show it was near the end of May, so I had to re-tag it as 5/30. I've had to go back and do that with several shows, because the date listed on the website was incorrect. And then finding segments from a different show that got mixed in (5/27/1989 had a couple top 10 segments from 10/7/1989, also 4/6/1996 having a couple segments from the 10/5/1996 show in the top 10). Quality control is severely lacking, that's for sure. I always liked that Casey announced the chart date at the end of the show (as of 7/14/1973 and the 1970 debut show). That didn't continue with CT40 and AT40 2.0.

That didn't continue with CT40 and AT40 2.0. Of course, the Radio & Records chart dates were just over a week (Friday plus the following week) ahead of when the shows were aired. Thus, the first ever Casey's Top 40 was based on the R&R chart dated January 13, 1989 but wasn't broadcast until the weekend of January 21-22, which would have likely been odd or confusing to many listeners. This has continued for the entire run of R&R and Mediabase (which has been even less consistent) CT40s/AT40s, so it's not hard to see why Casey--or subsequently Ryan Seacrest--didn't/doesn't say "from the chart of (month, day, year)" after 1988.

Yeah. that'd be somewhat odd (but maybe not entirely whacked) to announce the chart date as the source of the chart counted down despite being a little over a week before its air date, though I certainly understand why it wasn't done. This also happened with AT40's initial run from its second show through 6/30/1973.
Shadoe would continue that practice, but even that would end before AT40 did, with 6/18/1994 (I believe) to be the last show where the chart date is announced (though there were a few random shows beginning in late 1993 where Shadoe didn't announce the date).

Loved the 1994 show. I missed it the first time around 27 years ago so it was new for me.

KZOY is playing 04/10/93 tonight. The first song played is "The Best Things in Life are Free" by Luther Vandross & Janet Jackson. Yes, it's another all-request special (He usually does those in early April). This show was last played on July 4th last year.
