With 2001 and 2002 the previous weeks, they once again skipped over to 2008 in the decade. I am beginning to have my doubts that this show will feature 2000, 2004-2007.

BTW, current CHR show has an issue with segment H1S2, from segment H1S1 skips to segment H1S3 on iTunes and Android on BYO and Hit Music Apps.
Now fixed.

Both extras on the 1986 show have something to do with Jeffrey Osborne. His own "You Should be Mine" is one and he wrote the other, "All at Once" by Whitney. That was a bit of a followup release to "Greatest Love of All". Not a single, it was an airplay release to AC stations. Rick said they were getting a lot of requests for it. More cliche-ish than true because if it was fact, with her momentum then, it would have charted at R&R. And not being released to CHR pretty much clinched it not charting. Great song I might add that I have heard several times. If you heard the 1989 show from a few weeks ago, Rick did an interview with Mick Hucknall as he did on this show. Both interviews start the same way! Rick asks, "Can I call you Red?" Mick replies, "You can call me anything you want". Had the same inflection! Now I am wondering if he had another interview with Simply Red in 1991 or 92 when their next to last and last hits were out and had the same opening to it.
WT40 challenge answer in D2k show is Kelly Clarkson. I guessed it correctly before looking it up. Nelly was #1 this week 6 years ago and Hoobastank was #1 4 years ago the date of this show. Wonder if we will ever hear that show seeing as they are avoiding 2004. Good song "The Reason". Or for that matter, the show when "Who Knew" that was an extra right after that, was #1. That was in 2007, another year they are avoiding. How the heck did that not even make the top 40 in its first release?
You notice how the clip of Mariah talking before her "Touch my Body" was pretty much the same thing she said at the beginning of the video of that song?
Challenge answer call was the question asked on the last 2008 show Rick featured. That type of thing has happened 2 or 3 times in the various series this year.

Bonus Hour show for CHR / HAC / D2K is again December 06, 2008 CHR, aired on the weekend of may 28, 2017, so it is possible the bonus hour shows for the 80s and 90s are the same that recent last week.

80s bonus: Jun 21, 1986...(why does caption say jun 7, 1986 totally does not make sense; been this way for years)
I'll take a hint that bonus tracks for 80s and 90s are paired with repeats from 3 weeks ago, if it continues by trend, then i can guess next week bonus tracks are Jun 24, 1989 and Jun 12, 1993

In the 2001 show, he played clips of songs about body parts. Got the eyes and head but what about hair. Maybe the Cowsills song called "Hair" was too old. Also played clips of songs about celestial things. Leading into "Drops of Jupiter" but he did not play "Venus and Mars Rock Show" though he did play "Venus". But could have gotten 3 planets instead of just the 2. Mentioned how Train was about to go back on tour in July. They are on tour now and Jupiter was their last song when they played here last weekend. Stereo MCs have their biggest hit "Connected" on the 90s show and a clip of a song that was #1 in the UK on this show. Never charted in the US however. Did you mean another song of Stereo MC's - Step It Up that hit #1 in UK? Unless I'm wrong..

My guess is that he skipped Ace of Base twice because it was on the chart forever (at least 2/05/94 to 8/06/94). The other two I'm not sure about. "The Sign" got skipped pretty much its entire way down the chart - even when it was still top 10! First of all, kani, yes that was Step It Up that Rick talked about on the D2K show. Second of all, on the 1994 show from a few weeks ago, "The Sign" was skipped when it was #11. Well they played like 5 second clip of it. Last and not least, since I have it and I can't see how they play anything else this week for the 80s seeing as it has been played the first weekend of July the last 4 years, I am listening to the 7/4/87 show. That guy from Louisburg, NC who won the hollerin' contest in Spiveys Corner. I know and have been to both places a few times over the years. Live basically right in between the 2 places. Spiveys Corner is the intersection of US highways 421 and 13 about 10 miles east of I-95. Still don't know where it is? Oh well Dees does and I do! Btw, that challenge song is "Walking on Sunshine". Everybody got that or will get it but he said it was a hit the previous summer. No it wasn't...it was 2 summers previous to this show. And said Bananarama covered "Venus" this year. That was last year. For some reason, he thinks it is 1986. He went from being stuck in the past to the future nicely by playing a clip of ABC's "When Smokey Sings". That had just been released and was 4 weeks away from hitting the countdown. OMG, still in the future, now he thinks it is 1988. Said Pseudo Echo remade a song from 8 years ago. "Funky Town" was a hit in 1980 not 1979. kani and everyone else, I stand corrected. It could not have been "Step it Up" that Rick mentioned in the 2001 show because he just mentioned that song in the 90s show which is the 7/3/93 show. Ii's the followup to the Stereo MCs hit in the show, "Connected". Said it was already a huge dance hit all across Europe. Btw, he played one and a half of songs 40-37 skipping and not even mentioning Tag Team at 40, playing "Plush" by STP a great song at 39, skipping Aaron Neville at 38 and playing about half of "Freak Me" at 37. Also skipped Dr. Dre at 31, the only rap song in the show.

^At least Rick isn't as bad as those VJ's in the other thread. I haven't listened to any of their shows, but it's almost comical to read about their constant flubs. Rick has a few here and there, evidenced by the above post. I have that 7/4/1987 show too. Been a while since I heard it - as I've been on a Casey roll the last few months.

What a novel concept, offering Part 2 of a special before you offer Part 1. Btw, I edited my previous post I think 3 posts above now. kani, the song that they played a clip of on the last 2001 show was "Deep, Down and Dirty" by Stereo MCs.

For the special 2000s Hit Part 1, it's only a CHR version, not both. I've checked. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/121895/rick-dees-1-hits-decade --- that was the HAC version of part I of Rick Dees special so far July 4, 2009 pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/86846/rick-dees-2009-hits-decade -- that was the CHR version of part I and part II Jul 4/Jul 11, 2009 playlist. Normally late 2000s if given for special request or specials it may be either CHR and HAC, but not merged to both formats. In 2010s started for specials, it played on both formats

That was the right way to do it in 2009 and the rest of the 2000s. In the case of the 2009 show since that is the D2K show this week, there are different songs hitting #1 on the CHR and Hot AC charts. There may be songs which hit #1 on both charts so you could just play those songs. But then several songs are omitted simply because they only hit #1 on one of the charts. And so what was presented this decade is not a true reflection of the songs that hit #1.

I have found that July 04, 2009 and July 11, 2009 special episodes are not exactly the same special shows for CHR and HAC editions. What the app has for this weekend is the CHR edition and there is another pair of shows, same dates, with differences for the HAC edition.
For example, in the HAC edit Hour 3 -1 segment these are the songs:
66 ▪ AGAIN – LENNY KRAVITZ 65 ▪ DON’T CHA – girl thingyCAT DOLLS 64 ▪ OBSESSION (NO ES AMOR) – FRANKIE J Interview: Natasha Bedingfield 63 - UNWRITTEN – NATASHA BEDINGFIELD Interview: Natasha Bedingfield
The CHR edition has these songs in the same segment, the segment that is on the app:
66. Womanizer Britney Spears
65. Dont CHA - girl thingycat dolls
64. You spin my head FLORIDA
Interview: Natasha Bedingfield
63. UNWRITTEN – NATASHA BEDINGFIELD Interview: Natasha Bedingfield
