Have there been many specials in years past on the July 4th weekend? That would be since the show's inception in 2009 (July 4th 2010 and beyond)?

^ That's been the only one since 2012; I can't speak to 2009-11.

So I'm guessing kinda unlikely. I know it won't be a Listener Countdown as there needs to be more time to compile. Thanks Mike and Laura.

How many weeks of the period between "Bette Davis Eyes"'s first and last weeks at the number-one spot has the VJ Big 40 covered so far? Because of the repeat of the Stars on 45 Medley's only week at #1 this week, I think we need some kind of tracker or database to see which Hot 100 chart weeks have been used on the VJ Big 40, and which have not.

Believe it or not, only 6/27 remains.
Coming up at the end of the year, "Physical" is in a similar position, where only the 12/26 chart hasn't yet been done. (It has neither been done as the actual chart week nor as the "first chart of the year", I.E. the frozen chart.)
"Endless Love", on the other hand, has five of its weeks yet undone - not helped by two of its weeks having been done three times each. (In contrast, that's only happened once with "Physical" and not yet to date with "Bette Davis Eyes".)

I think the last one was a summer one-hit-wonder special they did a few years ago. A good idea for a special that the writers completely screwed up as usual, omitting many fitting artists and featuring several who were not one-hit wonders at all.

(At least that's not a week that duplicates Premiere's Casey shows, as that AT40 was guest hosted). September 19, 1981 (my sixth birthday, incidentally) is one show with "Endless Love" on top that has been overplayed IMO--along with September 12, 1987, which more than once preceded it.

I thought that July 11, 1981, with BDE on top, had been done several times. Just twice since 2012: 2015-16. The only other week with BDE at #1 to have been done even twice so far is 6/13, which was last done in 2018. September 19, 1981 (my sixth birthday, incidentally) is one show with "Endless Love" on top that has been overplayed IMO--along with September 12, 1987, which more than once preceded it. All three times, in fact - coincidentally (or not coincidentally), in 2015-17.

It occurred to me that the last time 1984 was featured, we had a "same year, different chart" situation with Premiere, just like we will have this weekend. I'd point out that the next 1984 show should be slated for September, but we all know they will find a way around that as they always do.

Eh...it'll be better if they're at least a little late with 1984 coming back, as both 9/1 and 9/8 have been done (the three later weeks have not). Which means, of course, that we should instead expect it to come back before September. (And, all of August has been done, with July only having 7/21 remaining.)

When was the last time 9/1 and 9/8 were done? I wouldn't mind either of them if they happen to land on there. Also any news on whether or not there will be a special countdown next week? If not we best get to praying we don't get stuck with [REDACTED] again.

Quite frankly, the more that week gets mentioned the more I think it's going to get "Beetlejuiced" into happening.
(For those who don't get the reference: Saying his name three times summons him. Apply that to 7/5/80, and if it gets said enough times - or just gets brought up AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN - that will force it into being so.)

Next week it'll be all about 1987! More than likely 7/4 to fit with the weekend ahead. What I don't get though is why they waited less than 10 weeks again to play that year. This would mark the fourth time this year that it's featured. Thankfully it's not a repeat of 7/25. At this rate there is still a chance we could get an August 1987 show.
