That's strange for them to go back to 1980 so early considering there's still 1988 and 1982 that haven't been done a second time yet. I'm hoping the pushback gives us a new 1988 show at least. It does sort of make sense in a way though because if they were to have done the same charts I predicted they would, we would have had just three April dates in a five-Friday month.
Also 4/19 (at least I hope it will be) hasn't been featured in 10 years. Is that a first?

One of the rare occasions that do back to back years!

I'm hoping the pushback gives us a new 1988 show at least. I really wouldn't count on that - actually, 1988 needed to come back early to have a better shot at it, the latest being if we'd gotten 88 last week instead of 86. Now, it would have to go all the way out to Memorial Day weekend to get a new one, another five weeks after 1980. While they're certainly capable of such long-delaying stretches, I'm not sure I'd bank on it happening. Also 4/19 (at least I hope it will be) hasn't been featured in 10 years. Is that a first? It would have to be, as there wasn't even an opportunity for such a gap between airings until back in February. I'm seeing there were a few other weeks done in that early stretch that have not returned since. But I also wouldn't get too excited just yet - 1980 is also an "either/or" year like 1981 is this year, and the flipside is 1980 could instead get THEIR first member of the Four Times Played Club with 4/26...

This is a rarity: 5 songs in this countdown all debuted on the Hot 100 in the Top 40--Best of Times (31), Woman (36), Crying (37), Hello Again (32), and Her Town Too (38). The first four made the Top 10, and Her Town Too reached 11. Interesting that for all those high debuts none of the songs made #1--being kept out by Kiss On My List and Morning Train.

You are getting it from Premiere. Better hope Casey lite doesn't also land on 88 the last weekend of April.

The outlook pretty much sucks for no matter where 1988 lands unless they really do push it out to Memorial Day...4/30 has only been done once here, but if it duplicates Premiere then that taints the pick. 5/7 has been done three times (most recently in 2019) and 5/14 twice (most recently in 2018) - 5/21 would be the next best thing. That's been done, but not since 2013.
All this said, doubt they'll wait that long. But the next two that haven't been done in the longest are 1982 and 1989, either of which would be new - though I'm also not sure how likely 1982 would be right after 81 and 80.

If only we the die-hard chart fans could pick the schedules for both Premiere and SiriusXM. If it were up to me, we would, as often as possible...
* Never see shows/charts repeated after fewer than seven years (except for Premiere's B shows) * Never see the same year featured on both shows the same weekend, or even consecutive weekends * See more spacing out of the years between the two shows (as in, we get March 1985 from Sirius, April 1985 from Premiere, May 1985 from Sirius, and so forth)

Looks like they won't end up repeating that chart date after all, because apparently 1988 will be this weekend instead of 1980, as of this morning's Big 40 repeat.

That sort of makes more sense coming right after 1981, though 4/23 wasn't really much better than the other weeks I mentioned above. It's been done only once before. Who wants to guess when that was? This means 1989 would not be likely to finish April, but the first two weeks of May would be fine for that, plus 1982 hasn't been done in longer anyway.

Yes but that still leaves 1980, which came after 1982 last time, and unfortunately 4/26 and 5/3 have been done in 2018 and 2019 respectively. I'm not too worried about that year though because of those Fox 50 countdowns every Tuesday going through 1980, but I really hope they don't end up landing on 7/4 for the 100th time. But at least 1982 and 1989's chances are better. Thinking way farther ahead, I can see them doing 5/28/83, which will be new, but that would fall on Memorial Day and there's always the chance of a special.

And it should be 1980 this time. I really hope that May has less dates that have been done over the past five years.

And it should be 1980 this time. I really hope that May has less dates that have been done over the past five years. When was the last time they did May 8 or 15, 1982? Because that year's due and those shows would fit the first two complete weekends of May (with April 29-May 1 being taken up with 1980.) At least they didn't do 1982 this week which would have duplicated Casey, but it's interesting to note that the last few weeks we've one service play 1988 with the other following and, before that, 1981/86 with SXM doing one year and Premiere the other, and the two services switching years the following week. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Premiere play May 3 or 10, 1980 on May 7-8.
