If they wait ten -- or even eleven -- weeks to play 1987 again, we'll get another new chart. Furthermore, if both 1987 and 1988 stay on track, we will once again see December 1987 and January 1988, but the charts would be spaced further apart than last year. I see they're getting better at selecting chart dates than they have been a couple months ago. Out of the last six weeks, including next week, 4 out of the 6 haven't been played up until this point. This happened for a while last year as well, then at some point they reverted back to making poor selections. Now things are good again. How long can it last? As Mike just reminded us, next week's announcement could provide an answer. I haven’t listened yet, but ahhh, they got rid of the Austin Powers introducing number two, or should I say one? lol, and the Steve Urkel bit.. some of those were actually funny All of the old bumpers are gone. I found most of them extremely annoying, so I'm happy with the changes. The new ones tend to be movie snippets from the year being featured. Last week's show featured song snippets also, but there seemed to be fewer of those this week. And while we finally got through a whole month (September) without hearing 1993 or 1995, we did get a third 2019 repeat in a row this weekend. You win some, you lose some.

^^This weekend's 90s show, apparently a 2019 repeat, was from October 5, 1991. Apparently the 90s is more willing to jump ahead instead of behind in terms of dates, as I thought it would be the previous week (September 28).
And the 60s countdown jumped a full week ahead of this week's chart date, with October 10, 1964.

Next week: October 14, 1989.
So no 10/13/84 or 10/28/89 rerun this year, and that leaves enough time in the year that we might get 1989 again in December.

Third new chart in a row it looks like. However I'm kind of thinking of skipping this one considering I've been listening to TFO's Thursday 1989 combined chart all year.

So no 10/13/84 or 10/28/89 rerun this year, and that leaves enough time in the year that we might get 1989 again in December. What's nice is, any of the next three weeks would be a new chart for 1984. And that could set us up for the first chart of 2022 to be from 1984. Also, if 1989 gets one more airing it could be the final chart of the decade, 12/23/89. And while we're all happy with the 80's countdown choices lately, here's some insanity from the 90's countdown. I've come to realize that the run of years featured from the first week of August until now has been almost identical to the same time frame two years ago. The only differences: In 2019, we got 8/3/96. In 2021, we got 8/10/96 In 2019, we got 9/17/94. In 2021, we got 9/10/94 In 2019, we got 1996 charts in both August in September. In 2021, there was no 1996 chart in September. Remove that from the list and the years are in the same exact order.

Though "Back To Life" didn't debut on the Fox 50 yet despite it being at #38 on Billboard that week. Too many older songs taking smaller drops that particular week I suppose.

Elt, BeeGees, Poco, Alice Cooper! Cher and the Stoners. If Kenny Rogers had a top 40, this countdown could be from 1979.

Not exactly - excluding Kenny since he's not in the 1989 chart, there's not one week anywhere in 1979 with any more than half of those in the Top 40 at once. (All including Kenny does is raise the bar to 4 out of 7 at any given time.) Whereas this, as it happens, is the one and only week at any time where all six are accounted for.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that "Love You Inside Out", "Mama Can't Buy You Love", "She Believes In Me", and "Heart Of The Night" were all sharing chart space at one point? I should know this thanks to those TFO shows.

October 23, 1982 next week. Well there goes my hopes for 84-82-85. I'm pretty sure this is a repeat chart but I don't remember the last time it was done. I'm going to guess 1984 will close out October with 1988 kicking off November, and then hopefully 1985 after that because it would be absurd for them to do like last year and wait until they can do 11/16 again.

I should know this thanks to those TFO shows. It should also sound familiar - Premiere served up such a show (in this case 6/23) just last year. (In fact it nearly happened this year too, but 7/21 was the week the Bee Gees dropped out.)

Well there goes my hopes for 84-82-85. I'm pretty sure this is a repeat chart but I don't remember the last time it was done. Indeed - so much for wishing for nice things. Worse, it's aired twice in the past five years already (2016 and 2018), and this puts 1982 in a tie with 1987 for the most weeks to have aired at least three times. For 1982 - 1/9, 4/3, 5/29, 8/7, and now 10/23 will have each aired three times apiece. For 1987 - 4/18, 7/18, 9/12, and 11/14 have each aired three times apiece, while 1/31 has aired four times. I'm going to guess 1984 will close out October with 1988 kicking off November, and then hopefully 1985 after that because it would be absurd for them to do like last year and wait until they can do 11/16 again. Actually, it would be completely on-brand for them to do exactly that - and so too is bringing back 1982 a week ahead of schedule just so they can give that week Play #3.

Well, we're also supposed to get a 1984 show from Casey next week while we had 1982 from him last week, so at least there isn't that redundancy.
