Unfortunately the image is broken again. On the bright side, if it does end up being 1980 next week, there's a chance that 1986 will be after it, and 7/12 of that year hasn't been featured either. This time, it's probably your browser. Last time it admittedly didn't render properly and it spat out a blank post, but this time I can see what I intended to post there. I'm just letting you know that I see a broken image as well, in Chrome and Edge. If I try to view the image in another tab, it says it's "403. Forbidden"

Yes apparently this was fixed as I accidently noted in the Errors thread, but has the 7-5-80 episode been played much on the Big 40 Countdown? I know that 7-5-80 was a special on AT 40 the 80's, but just wondering of its frequency here.

Assuming it sticks and doesn't get swapped out, it will be 1980's first entry into the Four Times Played Club.

This is especially maddening when you consider that 1980 was due to be played three weeks ago. Such a deviation from the 10-week rotation must be a conscious choice on someone's part, but we'll never understand their reasoning.

Easier on the VJs for sure since the material should be and I emphasize should be familiar. I am almost certain that mistakes either new or repeated from previous episodes will prevail!

I think the fact that they continue to put in the effort to create new episodes featuring repeated charts is evidence that they have no idea what they're doing. I can't believe anybody would knowingly spend money re-creating a bunch of shows that already exist. That's why I think they just pick a year and run with it, making zero effort to see if they already have an existing show with that chart.

I actually just posted on FB asking if they're planning on doing anything this weekend. I doubt I'll get an answer but it was worth a shot.

One of the theoretical positive qualities of this show is that since it's newly recorded, it offers the chance to provide details on the artists' later careers and "where are they now?" type updates, as well as changing inaccurate or outdated prior information. But considering how many mistakes of varying significance are made I don't know that it's always worth making the effort to update for weeks they've already done, especially those that were featured in the last few years.

No special it looks like, so enjoy the third airing of 7/5/80 in four years.

More than likely 7/12/86, so we finally get another new chart for the first time in a month.

More than likely 7/12/86, so we finally get another new chart for the first time in a month. Indeed - they've never aired back-to-back shows that otherwise share a date on the calendar, so pulling a curveball and doing 7/5 would be something completely unheard of for them. In any case, next week being new would be the good news. The bad news: It leaves the week after completely empty of "new" options unless they return to a recently-done year, as only 7/17/82, 7/13/85, or 7/15/89, all done last month, would otherwise fit there. Even among repeats, the remaining years have all been done no farther than 5 years ago, so it makes that week decidedly mediocre at best.

They're doing another one of those block party things like they did for Memorial Day where they play four songs pertaining to summer or red, white, and blue every hour, and John Waite is hosting them for some reason. Maybe they'll do one for Labor Day weekend? If they do I hope it involves voting from listeners so it won't look too much like something that was randomly put together.
