I wonder if next week we'll get either the first or the last year of the decade. If we do end of getting 1989 next week, we will be hearing yet another one-week wonder, Tiffany's "Radio Romance".

Thankful for Slammin' Sam and his Flashback 50 countdown every Thursday of 1989, where Tiffany's "Radio Romance" will not be a one-week wonder, but also probably not get anywhere close to #35, like it's Billboard peak.

Next week it'll be all about 1980! Thankful for Slammin' Sam and his Flashback 50 countdown every Thursday of 1989, where Tiffany's "Radio Romance" will not be a one-week wonder, but also probably not get anywhere close to #35, like it's Billboard peak. It's definitely going to be on next week, and possibly even the one after that depending on how the songs that would chart below it would do, because it when up to 35 from 41 and then the next week it went back down to 41, so it can be a three-week wonder if the songs below it were at 42 or so on 4/8. Speaking of 4/8/89, hopefully the next week on the Big 40 will end this month-long dry spell of new charts.

The chart run of Radio Romance was odd for sure, and then two years later a Celine Dion song also spent its one week in the top 40 at #35. In between a song by Snap went 40-35-off.
And yet, despite all this nothing ever went 35-40-off, which would have seemed even more bizarre.
Back to the topic at hand, it seems like they're back to playing the ten years in a set order over and over again. I guess the past year was just a fluke.

They might do a little change a few weeks down the line. Hopefully not next week because if they did, 1985 and 1989 will be repeats from last year, not to mention ruin the chance of getting another new April 1989 chart Also they are finally doing 2006 again this weekend on Pop2k. Hopefully 2005 isn't that far behind. Another song I can think of that had a weird run was Billy Ocean's "License To Chill." It went 38-32 before dropping off. I would see that lasting three or four weeks on The Fox Oldies' 1989 countdown once they get there.

First new chart in a month! Even if yes i were to have heard pretty much all the songs the day before on The Fox Oldies. While this 1980 show was rather short, next week should be rather long with those Metallica and GNR songs still in the 40 at the time.

Even if yes i were to have heard pretty much all the songs the day before on The Fox Oldies. Then again, this will apply to every 1989 show this year - right?

The only downside to 1989 coming up next is that the next two shows from that year will likely fall in June and August, two of the most overplayed months in this show's history.

The only downside to 1989 coming up next is that the next two shows from that year will likely fall in June and August, two of the most overplayed months in this show's history. If the next two ended up on 10-week intervals, that'd get 6/17 and 8/26/89. 6/17 was unfortunately done just two years ago, but 8/26 has not yet been done. If not, however, then the best bets would be 6/24 or 7/8/89, or - if there's a really lucky draw - 5/27. 6/24 has been done twice, but those two were 2012 and 2013. 7/8 or 5/27, of course, haven't been done.

So it turns out there's one song that will be on the Big 40 that wasn't on The Fox 50 yesterday, as "Straight Up" fell out of that countdown this week but it's still at #39 on Billboard that particular week.

Boy I hope Casey lite has acquired the 5 minute 45 version of One. That is painful enough. The almost 8 minute album cut is radio torture.
