Or--Maybe a computer glitch --Or--Maybe the story about Mrs. Sylver losing her voice on the day she gives birth to one of her TEN children was so unbelievable it was repeated twice just to make sure you got it. By the way, the group appeared on the old game show "You Bet Your Life' with Grouch Marx as The Little Angels (only the four oldest children) in the late 1950's.

Kind of ironic that one of the songs that was part of the screw up was "Couldn't Get It Right".

Not ironic, but appropriate. Using words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning

This week 6/23/79. After a long 1979 drought, XM give us that year same week as Premiere Unless you meant 6/30/1979 - that's the show Premiere is featuring this weekend.

What's he's saying is the same week SXM gives us 1979, so does Premiere. Different shows, but same year.

Of note: Sirius XM's 60s Satellite Survey is featuring June 1970 this week, calling it the "Handoff to Casey Kasem". That show mostly counts down the hits from a given 1960s week, as well as some special countdowns, but also covers the first six pre-AT40 months of 1970.

Some thoughts about this week: Back before the merge Sirius had the Satelitte Survey on the 70's. I listened every weekend but only recorded this show 6/23/79 so it's good to finally hear most of the original AT40 show. This brings me to my next thought, the Neil Bogart story was cut for whatever reason, all that remains is "And now ON Casablanca records, here's KISS....." I hate when they cut stories but leave the tail end which then makes no sense. This is probably one of my favorite weeks (as well as the following which airs on Premiere this weekend). This was the summer that I was eight and we had just moved into a new house. I vividly recall having my sisters stereo speakers in the window and blaring these songs out all summer long. My older sister also had most of these 45s. Finally this week features two songs, one that I hate, the other that is one of my favorites, both by the same artist. Bad Girls and Hot Stuff by Donna Summer. Never liked Bad Girls, but always liked Hot Stuff. Hot Stuff is a great disco rock song.

I'm really looking forward to hearing this one. I ran across a list on the internet of all the weeks played on the 60's Satellite Survey from 2011 to 2014, and in those four years all they played was 1960 to 1969. I am planning on sending a "thank you" email after I hear it and encouraging them to run more early 1970 shows in the future as there is a 6-month gap between countdowns of the 1960's and 1970's channels. Hopefully they will run a few more in early 2017 covering that 6-month gap.

That list stops just short of 2015, which is when Lou Simon and SXM 6 decided to add the first half of 1970 to the countdown mix (stopping of course midyear when American Top 40 debuted.)

Well it's a 1976 theme weekend on XM 70's on 7, so you might think we're going to get the 7/3/76 show, but that show was a 'Best of July 4ths' retrospective and full of non-70's songs, and XM has a history of not airing these types of shows. My guess is they'll re-air 7/10/76 which they ran in 2012, but they could go with another year despite the '76 theme. We'll see...

It's not clear if the 1976 concept will extend to AT40, but if it does then 7/10/76 would be the logical show. (SXM isn't going to air a 70s show mostly made up of songs from the 1930s-60s, and we do have Ken Martin offering that same show brought up to date.) Though there will at least be a break from 1976 on Monday afternoon when they reair the 1970 debut at noon, which they apparently do every year at some point in the July 4 weekend.
