Well, that's a poor excuse on their part. They have taken longer than 3 hours before. This is the first time they have edited last week's top 3. Funny how SXM is downsizing 1979 shows now while Premiere is upsizing 1979 shows.

Listen carefully at the end of this week's show that SXM is playing ... Casey says it's for the week ending March 10, '79 - in fact it was the March 17, '79 show. Whoops! ;D

Yep, Casey got the wrong week!! Love those little mistakes in the shows. As for the edit at the start of the show, they could have fit the recap in. Must be some other reason why they were edited out??

Footnote to that story about Marty and David Paich. the latter of Toto, writing "Got to be Real" for Cheryl Lynn. Someone may have been returning the favor here because Cheryl sang backup on Toto's third single, "Georgy Porgy", a great song IMO.

Ms. Lynn was a phenomenal singer, to put it mildly.

Hi, What about the missing early 70s shows with Mike Kasem? I would love to hear that since Casey is retired. ;D Now, Magic Matt did 4-4-70 right? Thats the week I am doing on my Music Expert Retro Countdown shows as a demo for something I am trying to get picked up. I bet my version is a bit better. Then again I don't act as if Im subbing for Casey... His show used the Billboard chart for April 4, 1970, and was "dated" April 11, 1970 (the reverse of how it was done in 1970-71, when the chart was a week ahead of the airdate.) SXM displayed it as "AT40 4/11/1970"; when I first saw it I wondered if Casey or Don Bustany had suddenly discovered a long lost demo show in their attics or something. While not Casey by a long shot, I still actually liked that show; at least it was something creative and different, which is not something I'd say about most of SXM 7's regular playlist or presentation. However, it didn't go for precise historical accuracy; while the chart was right, most of the earliest AT40s had several extras and the only extra this one had was a "Long Distance Dedication", eight years before that feature actually was introduced. (Of course, they didn't have much to choose from in terms of extras giving their pattern of cutting out anything pre-1970; the LDD was a hit from earlier that year, the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back.")

Funny how SXM is downsizing 1979 shows now while Premiere is upsizing 1979 shows. That's so poor--if SXM is going to start editing out 70's songs, there's really no limit anymore. It seems like for the last 3 years they have just been editing out non-70's songs. WTF...why do that??? Your top 3 recap typically contains 3 songs that get substantial recurrent airplay these days...

Whoops! ;D Mr. Battistini calls this out in his book...one of maybe a dozen times throughout the original run that Casey said the wrong date.

I just want to point out I work on Saturday afternoons and the '70s SXM channel is often played and yes I did notice the Top 3 songs from last week ("Tragedy", "Do You Think I'm Sexy" and "I Will Survive") were cut.
This is the most ridiculous editing job by SXM yet.

It's piggyback time again. Next week's show is from March 23, 1974.

Sirius XM a little limited I suppose with no 1970 show, Dick Clark guest hosted the 72 show, the 73 show played last year and 75 played weekend before last.

I also noticed the wrong week mentioned at end of the show. Probably tight production schedule and I'm sure was scripted.
I noticed on the Premiere show from a week ago for 03/12/77 - Wings, Maybe I'm Amazed was #15. Casey says at start of song - moving up 5 to #5 - then at end says #15.

I listened to part of today's show (March 23, 1974). I noticed they played #32(Main Ingrediant), followed it with #33(Staple Singers), then proceeded to #31(Anne Murray).
It seemed very unusual to be out of sequence, but it was done smoothly.

We almost got a week with all the sames dates......4/8/72, 4/8/78 and 4/7/84.
Just the same, getting a week where all the shows line up with one of the dates that they air is rare.
